Hi, I have just tried to update the theme on my website and it has broken the website. I just pressed the theme update button from the theme dropdown, which I’ve done loads of times before and never had this problem.

    In wordpress themes, it says
    Name Description
    enfold Stylesheet is missing.

The front end is showing wordpress plantpot (theme twentyseventeen) and Enfold and child theme have gone.

Looking in FTP, most of the theme files seem to have disappeared.

I’m working with the hosts to have it restored from backup, but that doesn’t seem to be going well.

Very nervous about running the theme update again.

I welcome any advice for 1. restoring the site (unless the hosts have managed to get it back from backup) and 2. updating the theme.

    Hey andrea,

Could you try to upload it manually using FTP instead please? Something likely went wrong with the automatic update: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

    Best regards,

Thank you, that’s the first time the automatic update has broken the site and a bit of a shock. The FTP upload worked and all seems normal. Thanks again.

    Hi,

We are sorry you have faced that issue.
BUT there is something that can happen, if the servers have limited resources assigned to the hosting package ( happens on shared hosting ).
That is something we can not control we are afraid – but we also hope it is something that can be fixed if you ask hosting provider to increase
    memory limit and upload size.

    Best regards,
    Basilis

Thank you, that’s definitely very helpful to understand how it could have happened.
