    I’ve tried this on different domain names and every instance failed.

    I’m running:
    Enfold version 4.5.2
    PHP 7.0
    Wordpress 5.0.3

    Any ideas? I’ve tried this multiple times and has failed each time. In the private section is the message that is displayed.

    Hey! I have same issue – and it appears to be the same reason I could not update from previous versions to 4.2. Reason being the Envato API pinged too often. I cannot download from Envato either – says I’ve downloaded too often.

    I get the following when trying to update from the backend of all WP installs….

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Downloading update from https://marketplace-downloads.customer.envatousercontent.com/files/259388465/enfold.zip?XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. Forbidden
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I cannot access the bought zip file (I have bought Enfold over 40 times) either even with 10 months of support as it says I’ve downloaded too often. Envato support won’t help at all. I’ve tried!

    Can I possibly get link access to the 4.3 zip file in private content again? And I will update all installs manually again.

    Thanking you!

    Best – Catie

    I don’t have time to manually download and update this. I think you need to setup a token for updating from a version earlier than 4.5.0

    All my API tokens have definitely been set and automatic updates from 4.2 >> 4.3 should be possible but due to the download limit in Envato (and the theme pinging too often checking for updates) I get the error.

    Will await help from support.

    Yep. I contacted them when it was happening a couple of Enfold versions back. Issue with Enfold pinging too often. I have over 40 sites using Enfold so pinging even just once a day to check for updates max. out the limit. Painful. So hopefully Enfold support can advise best way forward without manually updating via zip file each time.

    Hi qtinfo,

    Did you make sure that your token has the correct permissions? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#toggle-id-5

    If that is not the problem then please post admin login details in private so that we can have closer look.

    Best regards,

    Please open a new thread and include login details in private to one of your site which this is not working on so that we can have a closer look.

    It started working. Several people are saying that it’s download limits.

    Hi qtinfo,

    Great, glad you got it working. A lot of users have reported the same thing, we’re not sure exactly what is causing it at the moment, but we think the problem is on Envatos end.

    I had the same problem trying to upgrade from 4.5.2 to 4.5.3 and was getting repeated failures from within Dashboard update attempts of “download forbidden” despite having validated my key and having it authorised for all the correct things.
    The only way to solve the issue that I managed was to use the installed plugin “Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File”. I then downloaded just the Enfold theme update zip file from Themeforest and then uploaded it and proceeded to install it.
    It updated the theme and removed the old version and all appears to be ok.
    Hope that assists other users in some way.
    However, c’mon guys get your act together it shouldn’t be this problematical. And I pity those poor developers or website managers that have many sites to update in one go for their clients.
    Best regards

    Hi Craig,

    Setting the correct permissions for the token has helped for all customers I’ve helped with that problem, so maybe you forgot something? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#toggle-id-5

    How exactly should we “get our act together”? If it’s not together then maybe you could enlighten us what we need to do?

    Best regards,
    Rikard
