We have been considering using import demo files to change an existing website but are getting cURL error 28 and then timing out.
Are you having problems with your server? I have tried this on a couple of enfold websites and all seem to be the same!I have spoken to my hosting support and this is their reply..
Hi Terry,
Thanks for waiting.
Having seen this error before, I believe the actual issue here may be that our servers are being blocked by the theme’s servers. I can also see that one of my colleagues has attempted to install and import a different theme, which they say worked without issue, and would further lead me to believe that a server block is the issue here.Normally the cURL error message also indicates the exact URL it’s trying to connect to, which unfortunately isn’t the case where, but assuming the demo file is on the same domain as the demo site itself, that being https://kriesi.at, I can see that this is blocking connection requests from our web servers.
What you would need to do in this case is reach out to the theme’s support team and request for our external IP addresses to be unblocked. You can find a list of our external IP addresses here:
https://www.20i.com/support/web-hosting/ip-address-external-connections
If it would help at all, we’d be happy to make contact with their support team for you, providing that they have a publicly available support email we can use.
I hope that makes sense?
Best wishes,
Joshua R
20i SupportJanuary 21, 2023 at 7:11 pm #1394652Hey madmanbean,
Please send us a temporary WordPress admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply. Also let us know which demo you are looking to install.

RikardFebruary 23, 2023 at 5:10 pm #1399034Well I delayed responding thinking this was a temporary problem but the same situation now exists on another newsite! (the other customer has now decided that would not use enfold because of this problem) As said this never used to be a problem and when checking with my hosting company they have advised me that access to your servers is being blocked!! Their message to me once again quoted below.. WHY NOT CONTACT THEM AS THEY ASK TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE???
I WILL GIVE YOU A LOGON BUT THIS WILL STILL MEAN THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS AND THE TIMEOUT MESSAGE COMES UP AS WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCESS YOUR SERVERS!

February 25, 2023 at 11:33 am #1399228Hi,
Thanks for the update and login details. Could you upgrade the account to have administrator rights please?
Best regards,
RikardFebruary 28, 2023 at 11:11 am #1399500Ok have upgraded to admin. Also tried again to import construction theme with same problem. As said this has previously been investigated and for some reason you are blocking my hosting from accessing the server where your templates reside!
The link to the download file on the site is

YigitMarch 3, 2023 at 2:53 pm #1400028Hey,
Our host confirmed that one IP in that range was blocked due to attracting negative attention but they’ve just unblocked it.
Could you please try once again?

YigitMarch 3, 2023 at 8:29 pm #1400056Hi and thanks for getting back to me. I had changed your logon to admin for you to try yourself but had to change it back as needed to use the domain for a new site purchased. I am sure, though, that the issue related to the blocked ip as until recently there has never been a problem with importing themes.Hopefully this will resolve the issue and when I next have an opportunity I will try again and can report back if you wish.
As said my hosting company did a lot of test to establish the problem and will copy your response to them including the reason the ip was blocked.
Thanks for your help.
March 5, 2023 at 3:17 pm #1400169Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, the login doesn’t seem to be admin and Enfold doesn’t seem to be activated so we would not be able to test if the demo import works.
Please check if the demo import works and let us know.Best regards,
MikeMarch 6, 2023 at 10:53 am #1400230Err did you not read the previous reply by me?? The issue seems to have been resolved and as the site is now being used for development of a customer website I turned off admin rights for you. The enfold theme is active and operating under a child theme which has been re-named!
March 6, 2023 at 12:51 pm #1400236Hi,
Sorry, I didn’t see in your previous reply that the issue was resolved, glad Yigit was able to help, if you have any further questions please create a new thread and we will gladly try to help you. Thank you for using Enfold.Best regards,
