Hi there,
both a client and myself experienced issues with adding photos to galleries for quite some time now – for the first few months everything worked out great.
The site used to work great and as problems/weird behavior with the site in other languages were found, I thought somehow WPML was causing some conflicts with the site. A few weeks ago, we saw images in different languages from WPML duplicating thousands of times and we had not done anything to the site. The same images would replicate countless times and what’s even worse, we couldn’t add any new ones.
We contacted WPML support who were able to bring the photo duplication issue back to normal. But still we cannot add any photos, nor make any changes to existing galleries. We noticed that we couldn’t add any new images to the site and the thing became even more frustrating when a few days ago my client told me that she could even add any text anymore, because she kept getting an error when trying to save and update the page.
Can you check out what the problem is? I give you the credentials to access the back end below:
August 12, 2014 at 5:40 pm #303352Hi Antonio!
Did you try to upload the images on this page: http://casitasitges.com/wp-admin/media-new.php – I just tested it and the upload seemed to work just fine and the image showed up on the media library page.
Regards,
PeterAugust 12, 2014 at 6:52 pm #303377Hey Peter,
The problem occurs not if I upload images to the library; it occurs when I try to add an image to an existing gallery, be the image new or an existing one already. If you try it yourself you should see what I mean. Take the ‘apartment’ page for example, in English or in German and check the gallery out there: try add a new photo or change the photos there… it oesn’t seem to work.
And my client told me the same thing is happening with written content now, so I really don’t know what’s causing the issue, but I kind of have a feeling that it has to do with WPML?
Thanks for looking it up.

August 13, 2014 at 4:39 am #303603Hey!
Thank you for the info.
I tried adding an image to the gallery, it works but saving the page gives me 500 server error. Please try to contact your host, see if they have any idea why this is happening. http://casitasitges.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2512&action=edit&lang=en
Best regards,
IsmaelAugust 13, 2014 at 8:43 pm #304017Hi Ismael,
I contacted the server and the 500 error seems to be solved (at the moment).
All plugins have been deactivated, including WPML, so now the site was only in English. Please try add an image into the photo gallery in the ‘Apartment’ page for example, save and update…you’ll see that images are not saved nor added.
This behavior has been going on for quite a while now, so we cannot add any image or make any changes to the page, which is quite frustrating unfortunately.Hopefully, you’ll be able to help us out.
Thank you,
Antonio
PS: I have meanwhile reactivated WPML to have the site back multilingual, but either with or without it activated, it’s still not possible to add images to galleries

August 14, 2014 at 5:10 am #304167Hey!
Thank you for the update.
I just added two images on the gallery, one image already exists on the media library, the other “scissor logo” image I uploaded myself and it works fine without any issues. Please try to remove browser cache then test it again: http://casitasitges.com/apartment/
Best regards,
IsmaelAugust 14, 2014 at 9:57 am #304258Thank you Ismael,
I’ll have my client do the changes to the galleries and see if she has no trouble. Hopefully, I won’t get back to you in this thread, which will mean problem is solved ;-)
Thanks for now.

August 14, 2014 at 12:05 pm #304326August 15, 2014 at 5:47 pm #305003Hi Yigit,
Unfortunately, there must be definitely something not working on the site…
Even with almost all the plugins deactivated and WPML in place, my client told me she can’t manipulate the images in the gallery element present on http://casitasitges.com/fr/appartement/
I tried then adding a new gallery element on the page to see whether I could bypass the problem that way and the result is that once I published the gallery with ‘x’ different images and use the big preview with small images below, it loads always the same landscape image of the town skyline by night, which I didn’t even add to the gallery.
I tried the same process on a different page with the same exact results: once I save and update the page, the live version shows the same gallery with the same single town skyline by night image.
You may want to try it yourself to see the problem and maybe figure a way out?
Thank you. We are all unfortunately really frustrated, my client above all, because she can’t do anything she wanted with the site, and all this behavior started out of the blue a few weeks ago, without us doing anything to the site.
We started seeing the image duplication of our library, to reach over 30,000 copies of images ‘by itself’ (!!!), so we checked WPML support forum and found others started having exactly the same issue. So we contacted WPML support who apparently fixed the issue, but I have no idea what they did to the images to delete all the copies and restore the normal library.
Hope this maybe can cast some light on what to look at….

August 16, 2014 at 6:34 am #305188Hey!
Thank you for the info and we’re very sorry that you’re having this issue.
On what browser and OS are you testing the gallery? As you can see I managed to add two images, one that already exist and another new image. Anyway, I did test a new gallery and the images are not added. Please refer to this link for a possible fix: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/gallery-edit-issues/#post-277654

IsmaelAugust 16, 2014 at 9:31 am #305231Hi!
Both my client and I are on Mac OS X and the browsers are both Chrome and Safari.
hope that helps, thanks.

August 18, 2014 at 2:24 pm #305742Hey!
The only other thing I can think of to try would be to try and edit a page in an incognito/private window so that the cache is clean and there are no outside conflicts.
If that works then clearing your browser cache for the site on the backend would fix the issue for you.

DevinAugust 18, 2014 at 6:12 pm #305884Thanks Devin,
I took the very suffered decision to redo the site completely! I set up a subdomain, installed a brand new WP and Enfold and restarted the whole process… I’ve been on the site over 12 hours today and fortunately, I managed to recreate everything seamlessly.
The site is only in English though, as I haven’t installed WPML nor any plugins yet. I just did a full back up using UpdraftPlus plugin.
I will then reinstall WPML and hope I won’t have problems having the site back multilingual as the other is.
Then, if everything works fine I’ll plan on moving the site from the subdomain to the main domain (I don’t know how to do it, but I guess it won’t be hell and maybe the tech support at my server can do that for me).
Thanks for your help. I appreciate anyway.
Do you think this solution is a feasible one, though really a hard one for me?

August 18, 2014 at 6:54 pm #305915It depends on how the hosting environment is set up. They might be able easily change the root path for you so it wouldn’t hurt to ask.
If at any point things happen where you can’t add content again let us know ASAP and we’ll take a look again. It definitely shouldn’t ever happen and I know sometimes its easier to circumvent finding the cause of a problem and go right to the end solution of getting a working site so I understand you re-starting at this point.
August 19, 2014 at 11:32 am #306202Hi Devin!
Took me a while but I recreated the site on a subdomain and on a new clean WP installation.
Now that everything seems to work fine I notice a little thing that has to do with the way galleries are rendered in the WPML translated pages, which differ slightly from the English original version.
Have a look at these two examples:
A) http://casitasitges.com/sitges/
B) http://casitasitges.com/fr/sitges/
Please scroll down to the first section (Welcome to Sitges in the original A version, Bienvenue a Sitges in the French B version) and note how the gallery displays snapshot correctly in version A whereas it displays them incorrectly, not in line on version B.
I see that while in A seems like the rendering puts them all at the same size, in B it doesn’t, which probably causes the bad look.
I also see that because it’s maintained by WPML I can only load the gallery on the main A page, whereas if I try load it on the B page I see nothing, which makes me assume that Galleries can only be edited on the main English site and all changes will propagate to the other languages pages, since it’s using only one gallery. Is that correct?
Is there maybe a fix to the issue I just mentioned of A ad B displaying differently. The different display of the snapshots not in line is something I noticed since the beginning of Enflod and I thought there was something to make them look all in line and nicely displayed regardless of their size.
Hope to hear from you soon and thanks for all you do. I think Enfold is truly the best theme ever and I owe you a lot!
Antonio
PS: I saw that maybe a workaround would be to try and recreate the same gallery on each page, but that wouldn’t really seem like an ideal solution. Maybe a quick CSS fix would be better?
PPS: Maybe it’s a fix for a next release? Also, I saw there is a new Layerslider version released. Do you plan to implement it on the next release?- This reply was modified 10 years, 3 months ago by abortolotti.
August 19, 2014 at 4:29 pm #306400Hey!
Try to regenerate all thumbnails with: https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ . Unfortunately WPML doesn’t always generate thumbnails of the translated images and if the right thumbnails are missing the galleries will look different.
Cheers!
PeterAugust 19, 2014 at 9:37 pm #306537It worked! Thanks Devin!
