When we try to upload the zip it succeeds in uploading to the media but fails when we hit insert. The error it provides is “Couldn’t add the font because the server didn’t respond. Please reload the page and try again”

We first went to the host and they upped the resources and no matter what we tried it continued the same error. What is the solution to this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey Joshua,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

It might be due to a missing PHP extension called ZipArchive. Please check the following thread for a possible fix, or just make sure that the ZipArchive extension is enabled. You can ask your hosting provider to configure the server or the PHP options.

    Hey there!

I have worked with the hosting to get ZipArchive enabled but it has not solved the issue. We are able to load fonts to the custom font manager but not to the iconfont manager. So far nothing has seemed to work and we were able to import a demo so it seems to be localized to the iconfont manager. Is there something else we can try to get it functioning?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

We managed to upload a set of font icons from fontello.com in the Iconfont Manager without encountering an error.

    // https://fontello.com/

Where did you get the font icons? Please note that only monocolored font icons are allowed in the upload manager.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi there!

We were using the recommended flaticon.com. We downloaded the collection and then tried to upload this time without renaming the zip file just to make sure we weren’t messing it up somehow. I also am aware this next statement sounds stupid but we are unsure of how to confirm the files are monocolored other than they are the single black color… The client gave us the login to flaticon.com that we could pass along if that would help as well. The file that was uploaded is mycollection.zip that is on the site currently. I am sure it is something simple we are missing and I apologize for the trouble.

The ones we have been trying were from the black and fill options.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

Which icon fonts exactly? Please provide a direct link to the font set so that we can test it on our end. We cannot open the existing zip file in the media library for some reason.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I have added the direct link to the collection we were trying to add. Thank you for taking a look!

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

We cannot open the zip file for some reason. Please provide a direct link to the flaticon fonts so that we can create a different zip file.

How many fonts are there? Try to limit the font icons to 5 per zip file and make sure that they are all monocolored icons. If the icons with black and fill options are getting rejected, try to upload a different set of font icons with different styling.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

Here are the links to the icons he is trying to use. There are only three total. We have had him pick three prior and send us the zip file previously and it did the same thing. The three we are looking at now I pulled directly from the flaticon collection to make sure that it wasn’t something wrong in transit.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

Looks like you can only download the collection as PNG but not as icon fonts or SVG files, when you are not a premium user (see private field). Unfortunately, PNG file format will not work in the iconfont manager. You may need to look for icon fonts somewhere else like fontello.com, or make sure that the selected fonts can be downloaded as svg files or icon fonts.

After looking at this more I downloaded them in SVG format. Compressed the three together (after opening them to make sure they were correct and working) and tried to upload them with the same results. The client really doesn’t want to use fontello but it is starting to look like it is the only option…

We tried uploading the SVG to fontello and it looks like they work fine there so we downloaded the zip from them as well and now it will upload but the icons are not showing. I will provide images of what we are seeing.

    Hi,

You should find the icons at the very bottom of the list. Please check the screenshot in the private field. We also created a test page.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
