Hello, I just set up a new site with Enfold and the Church theme.
Everything works great until I update the WordPress settings to use https When I do, I get the “Too many redirects” message and I can’t access the site or the wordpress admin. I spent some time troubleshooting with my provider and we ultimately found the theme to be the issue.
If I revert back to http (via phpMyAdmin) site comes back. If I activate any other theme, e.g. twentyTwenty, https works fine.
If I set the WP setting to http but access the site at https things also work. It’s only when I change the WordPress settings that the redirect message comes up.
I found a couple of other similar threads and tried updating the .htaccess file but the error persists.
Can you help?

Thank you for the inquiry
Did you setup or get an SSL certificate? Please get an SSL certificate, then follow the instructions in the following documentation.
// https://wordpress.org/support/article/https-for-wordpress/
You may need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to configure the web server to redirect traffic to https.
You can also install the Really Simple SSL plugin to automatically convert the site from http to https.
Best regards,
IsmaelDecember 14, 2021 at 2:53 pm #1332782Ismael, yes, I purchased an SSL certificate through my provider and it’s already set up. You can access the site at https://www.crossroadspca.net – you’ll see the valid certificate in place.
If I change the wordpress general settings to “https” instead of “http” that’s when the issue arises. If I change the theme to one of the wordpress default themes the issue goes away.
December 14, 2021 at 5:26 pm #1332830Hi,
I wanted to look into it so I switched http to https however I could not log back in. I tried deleting the theme via FTP but that did not work either. Could you please switch https back to http via phpMyAdmin? I am sorry for the convenience.
Best regards,
YigitDecember 14, 2021 at 7:37 pm #1332856Thanks Yigit. I set things back to http via phpMyAdmin.
I deleted the theme files and uploaded a new fresh copy I grabbed from themeforest. Once I did that I changed back to https. Issue persists…
I am running a “child theme, but the style and functions file for that child theme are “empty”. I did try making the change by using the actual enfold theme and the issue persists.
I also disabled all plugins and the issue persists.
December 14, 2021 at 8:01 pm #1332857And I just replicated the issue with the twentytwenty theme – so it may not be the theme after all. I’m also investigating with my provider…
