I created a test page with an auto-play background video in one section, and did a test on the page’s load time.

The video itself added 2.7 more seconds to the page’s load time than it would be without a video background.

I used the industry’s best practices when it came to the implementation of the video in that it was:
    1. Below 5 MB
    2. Not HD
    3. No sound, etc
    4. Under 15 seconds

The page’s load time without the video was about 3.5 seconds. Any tips on how I can prevent the video from affecting the page’s load time so much? Perhaps there’s a way to make it so that the video won’t load until the entire page loads?

    Hey phillipikoo,

unfortunately this is not a theme related question, but a general WordPress one. You can use a cache plugin and/or cloudservice.
Let us know if you experience any theme issues and we are happy to assist you.

    Best regards,
