When I go into a page through advanced layout builder (which seems to be working in the sense that I can add and remove content elements) and try to go into either an existing or a new text block, the TinyMCE UI is missing and any text that is visible from the ‘outside’ (both in the ALB and on the published page) is just not there.
I have seen on occasion that text is there, but invisible until selected (white text on white background), but this behaviour is intermittent.

    * I have disabled all plugins
    * there is no caching plugin installed
    * Tried different browser to exclude local caching issue.
    * Tried different computer; different users, etc.
    * I have modified some theme files to hack the tagline in the page header, so I am hesitant to just blow away the install. I will start on backing that up since it is probably the first next thing to try.
    * Admin account awaits you; details in private.

Never mind. I found the culprit and it is a plugin called wp-webp. I think it messes with JavaScript inlining. You can close this thread.
