We just recently purchased the newest version of Enfold, and tried to update from version 4.7.6.4. Our website is completely broken now, from the menu down
September 19, 2023 at 9:55 pm #1419625I had the identical problem today and had to go back to the old version. A serious problem was pointed out.
September 20, 2023 at 7:01 am #1419655Hi,
Thank you for the update.
A lot has changed since 4.7.6.4, so expect some errors to occur after updating to 5.6.6, especially if you’ve made modifications in your child theme. To prevent this in the future, please ensure you regularly update the theme as soon as new patches become available.
We recommend creating a site clone, updating it to the latest version (5.6.6), and resolving any issues there before applying the updates to your live site. You may need to toggle or temporarily disable Enfold > Performance > File Compression while working on the site.
Once the clone is ready and updated, please provide the site URL and login details in the private field so that we can investigate the errors.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 20, 2023 at 9:31 am #1419676Hi Ismael,
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, in my case, there was no longer any way to access the website. I tried everything, deactivated plugins via FTP, etc. Nothing worked.
And yes, I update my site regularly, but customers rarely follow the recommendations. And they won’t want to pay to create a clone every time. That means the solution is not necessarily practical. What should I do now? Isn’t there an intermediate step?Best regards,
PetraSeptember 20, 2023 at 10:29 am #1419682Would it be possible for you to provide us with the last version before the big update? I would also pay for it. I don’t see any other possibility. In Envato Market, only the version from the end of August is available. Thank you very much in advance.

Thanks for the update. We can’t say why your site broke during the update since you haven’t provided us with any further information. The safest way to update a site is to do it on a staging version of it first though, once it’s set up you don’t need to do it again.
If you want a different version of the theme, then please let us know which version.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 20, 2023 at 12:26 pm #1419700Dear Ismael,
Thank you very much for your quick feedback. The last time I had downloaded an update was on March 03, 2023, and I had also updated my website with this one. After that there were updates on March 23, 2023, and April 17, 2023, if I am informed correctly. You can certainly better decide which of these two versions would be helpful for me.
I couldn’t give you any more hints because my website was no longer accessible after the current Enfold version was installed. The browser was only white with the note that there was a serious problem. In fact, there was nothing I could do.Kind regards,
PetraSeptember 20, 2023 at 12:28 pm #1419701Please excuse me, Rikard, for addressing you by the wrong name.
September 20, 2023 at 12:43 pm #1419707Hi Petra,
Please open a new thread and include WordPress admin and FTP login details in private, so that we can perform the update for you. Going back a few versions will likely not make any difference.
Best regards,

RikardSeptember 21, 2023 at 9:20 am #1419838Hi Rikard,
Many thanks for your help! Can you tell me what the problem was? I will have to update many pages to the current version in the future. On a website that I have already touched, it worked without any problems.
Kindest regards,
PetraSeptember 21, 2023 at 9:25 am #1419839The font is bigger overall, but I can still adjust that. Thanks again!
September 21, 2023 at 9:31 am #1419843Hi Rikard,
I logged into the backend and suddenly the correct font sizes were back. I didn’t have to change anything.
Thanks a million and all the best!
PetraSeptember 21, 2023 at 11:13 am #1419868Hi,
Great, I’m glad that you got it working. I can’t really say what went wrong for you unfortunately, since the update worked without any problems when I did it.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 21, 2023 at 12:35 pm #1419896Ooooh, no! ;-)
September 21, 2023 at 9:00 pm #1419958Hello,
It took us a little while, but we figured out how to get a clone of our website up. Details are below:

September 22, 2023 at 10:38 am #1420012Hi JMaz12,
Thanks for that. I see that things are breaking when switching to the new version on my end as well. I’m not sure what has been done to your site, but the first section on the front page which disappears is not in the layout on the backend, how exactly was that added?
The menu also resets, and it seems like a new menu location was added; Enfold Header Menu, that is not a default location in the theme. Do you know how that was added?
If there has been modification to the core files in the old version, then they should have been placed in a child theme.
If you want to switch versions, then you can rename the theme folders under /wp-content/themes/. The active theme should be called enfold.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 22, 2023 at 1:45 pm #1420042Hi Rikard,
Thanks for the response. We had a developer make this website for us, so I’m not sure how it was done. Are you able to reset our pages to default and then upgrade the site?
September 22, 2023 at 2:46 pm #1420049Hi,
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by that? If you want to activate the new version, then please rename the new version to enfold, and the old to for example enfold_old via FTP. You can then recreate the missing slider on the front page, and assign a menu as your main menu under Appearance->Menus.
Best regards,
Rikard -
