I have used the Enfold theme since 2017. I created the website within a Child Theme. About a week ago, we stopped being able to log in to the website dashboard. Instead, I received a message stating that my website had a critical error. After calling BlueHost, they said the problem was that the Enfold theme was “broken”. They had to disable/remove the Enfold theme so my site would work again. All my pages seem accessible in the dashboard; however, the website only displays the Blog page. I believe they deleted Enfold from my account. Please help me get my site back up and running correctly.

This is what I see on my dashboard under themes:

    Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete.

    Name Description
Enfold Child The parent theme is missing. Please install the “enfold” parent theme.

if you got a former working child-theme – then the settings belong to this. So if you got ftp access – then upload the enfold theme via ftp – maybe better you rename the existing enfold folder to something like enfold-old, and then upload a complete enfold folder again.

After that test if your installation runs as it should – you can then delete that old folder ( maybe it is not corrupted but hacked )

But what seems strange to me is that you can log in to your child theme despite this message.

I don’t understand these instructions. I don’t know how to do what you suggested. I would be very grateful if you would give me detailed instructions on completing these steps.

Where do I find ftp access?

Here is the latest information sent to me by BlueHost support:

    Hello Dana,

Glad to reconnect with you again, This is Akshatha and I understand how important it is to have your website functioning properly, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused regarding the restoration of the Enfold Child Theme.

Upon review, I can confirm that the website files and database tables have been restored from the requested date, and all the contents available in the backup have been successfully restored to the site. However, since you’ve noted that the restored contents do not seem to include the necessary data for the Enfold Child Theme, I have thoroughly checked the contents of the Enfold Child Theme in the file manager and attached the screenshot for your reference.

Currently, the domain points to the following directory: /home1/abafousu/public_html/abridgetoachievement

I checked the theme data inside the directory: /home1/abafousu/public_html/abridgetoachievement/wp-content/themes

Here are the details of the restored contents:

    Plain Text

    (Email address hidden if logged out) [~/public_html/abridgetoachievement/wp-content/themes]# du -sch *65M enfold84K enfold-child0 index.php8.6M twentytwentyfive3.5M twentytwentyfour2.6M twentytwentyone.1.3.zip2.8M twentytwentythree87M total
The “enfold-child” folder has a size of 84K, and this data matches what we restored from the backup. Additionally, I checked the size of the “enfold-child” folder in all available server backups,

Backup dates: Daily Mar 12 21:54

As you can see, in all backups, the “enfold-child” folder consistently has a size of 84K. Therefore, the data that has been restored is identical to what exists in the backups.

If you would like us to attempt another restoration from a different backup date, we can certainly proceed. Please let us know the desired backup date and whether you want the full website and database restored or just the Enfold Child Theme files.

For your convenience, you can use the following template to grant us permission: “I grant permission to restore [specify files or entire website] from the date [specify date].”

With your permission we’ll proceed further with the restoration.

We are here to assist and ensure your website is fully operational. Should you need any further investigation or clarification, please let us know.

    Regards,

    Hi,
When I check your parent theme enfold looks correct:
    Screen Shot 2025 03 16 at 7.36.15 AM
and in the child theme the Template name looks correct:
    Screen Shot 2025 03 16 at 7.44.55 AM
but I have not seen this code in your child theme functions.php:
    Screen Shot 2025 03 16 at 7.47.42 AM
I tried commenting it out, but it didn’t help.
Currently you have the Twenty Twenty-Five active, I’m not sure what your critical error was, perhaps the best solution is to restore from a older backup.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
It looks like someone changed the directory name from “enfold” to “enfold-” with a dash:
    Screen Shot 2025 03 16 at 8.02.07 AM
This maybe the issue, you will need to change this via ftp or your webhost file manager

    Best regards,
    Mike
