    I am spending hours trying to figure out the Portfolio and I think it is because I don’t understand some of the terminology.

    • What I want to make is a PORTFOLIO INDEX page with a grid of my PROJECTS.
      I want to click on a project and show a case study that is not a slide show.
      I also want the sidebar to be PORTFOLIO CATEGORIES, not blog post categories

    You can create your widget area in Appearance > Widgets and then choose to display it on your single portfolio entries – http://i.imgur.com/UxHsyoW.png

    thanks- here is where I get confused:
    To create a new widget that will be in my sidebar of the portfolio categories, do I choose….
    CUSTOM MENU?
    PAGES?
    …..

    Hey!

    You create a new widget area you can go to Appearance>Widgets of WordPress and then use the “Enfold Custom Widget Area” box to create a new widget area. Then add widgets to it.

    Now on the page you want that widget area to appear you choose it from the Sidebar drop down in the Layout meta box.

    For the portfolio items you need to use some kind of parent page to show all your portfolio items going by what you described originally. You can of course always link directly to any single portfolio item.

    Thanks- Sorry I am so dense on this…
    So I have my widget container made named “Portfolio Categories”
    Now I can’t figure out which widget goes inside!

    I am looking for this:

    RETAIL (clicking on this should take you to a page with all RETAIL associated portfolio items- these would be organized from the items I assigned that category to…..etc)
    RESTAURANTS (clicking on this should take you to a page with all RESTAURANT associated portfolio items)
    NON PROFITS (clicking on this should take you to a page with all NON PROFITS associated portfolio items)
    CONSUMER GOODS (clicking on this should take you to a page with all CONSUMER GOODS (associated portfolio items)

    Each item on your index page would be an image with a link pointing to that sub page that has the portfolio grid of the chosen category.

    I’m back and still stuck.
    I am designing a portfolio site.
    I am adding portfolio content to individual Portfolio Item pages: each project will get it’s own Portfolio item page, right?
    I added a featured image, chose category and gave it a title.
    Is this where I add other images for this project?
    Do I just add them in the content area using the Advanced Layout? Meaning, do I layout the images here?
    and how do I make galleries of a project? would that be correct thing to do?

    (I watched all videos and read all I could. The instructions seem to stop just when I need more.)
