Hi there, I’m hoping you can help with this. Today when I visit my website, I am seeing symbols up in the top left hand corner of my screen a split second before my site loads. I’ve never had this happen before so I have no idea what has happened. My first thought was plugins, but I’ve tried deactivating all of my plugins to see if they could be causing it but the symbols are still showing up even with no plugins activated.

I tried to do a screen shot but I’m not fast enough to grab it before the symbols disappear and the website appears. It looks like ” /> and the entire rest of the screen is blank.

Any thoughts on what could suddenly be causing that if it’s not a plugin issue? The only changes I’ve made to the site recently were to delete some old plugins that had already been deactivated for quite a while.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

    Hey suzannewm94,

Thanks for the login details. I’m seeing the same thing on my end unfortunately, but I can’t see where it’s coming from. It doesn’t look to be coming from the theme options or from your child theme, since the child is empty. Could you give us permission to deactivate plugins for debugging purposes?

Edit; you could try activating the parent theme to see if that changes anything as well.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Sure, that’s fine. You can do whatever you need to do with those for debugging purposes.

I did try switching to the parent theme and the symbols still show up. The only difference is that they actually stay visible in the top left corner instead of disappearing when the page loads. I deactivated it and went back to my child theme but if having the symbols visible helps with troubleshooting, it can be switched back to the parent.

    Hi,

Thanks for that. Deactivating all plugin didn’t make any difference, and I can’t find anything in the theme options either. The only thing that I can think of which might be adding that is your widgets. You can have a lot of them though so it’s difficult to go through all of them. Maybe you can find something in there?

If not then I would suggest that you try reinstalling both the theme and WordPress to see if that helps. Make sure that you have backups of the site before doing that.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
