How can I create a box or prompt to invite website viewers to subscribe to the blog on my page?
(Please, break it down as talking-to-a-three-year-old as you can :-)February 27, 2014 at 5:31 am #229904Hey NaturaIntegrativeMedicine!
You can go to Appearance > Widgets then use the Enfold RSS Link and Twitter Account widget.
Best regards,
IsmaelFebruary 27, 2014 at 8:02 pm #230238Thanks. I think I wasn’t clear with my question. I want people to be able to subscribe to my BLOG on the WEBSITE, not to my Twitter account.
How can I build that into my site?

The widget includes “Enfold RSS Link” or the subscribe button, not just the twitter account.
Cheers!
IsmaelMarch 2, 2014 at 7:23 am #231218Great, thanks.
Some follow up questions:
(1) RSS Feed – that means when I post new BLOG entries at http://naturaintegrativehealth.com/?page_id=731 that subscribers get an e-mail update, yes?
(2) What do I list for the URL? Right now when viewers click on the icon it just takes them to the blog page, there’s no prompt for them to actually enter their e-mail anywhere or subscribe.
(3) Can I remove the Follow on twitter icon and just have the RSS feed subscription option?
(3) Any way I could change the wording to say “get updates when we post new blog entries!” ???March 5, 2014 at 9:10 am #232613Hey!
No, RSS doesn’t allow you to send emails. The user needs a special rss reader plugin/software which checks the RSS channel from time to time for new entries and if a new entry is available it will notify the user. I.e. Chrome supports some RSS plugins like: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/rss-feed-reader/pnjaodmkngahhkoihejjehlcdlnohgmp
If you want to send out email newsletter you must install a special plugin like: Tribulant Newsletter Plugin or My Mail. Maybe you can also find a good plugin in the wordpress plugin repository: http://wordpress.org/plugins/
If you just want to add a rss link/icon to your website I recommend to use the “social icon” option (Enfold > Theme Options > Header) to add an rss icon to the social link bar. The widget is imo not required and the “social icon” solution is better for the performance.

PeterMarch 5, 2014 at 11:23 pm #232978Thanks Peter. I’m a little confused here, but I think we’re on the right track. To clarify what I am hoping to accomplish: I want people to be able to enter an e-mail address on my blog page so that every time I post a new blog entry they receive an e-mail prompt (either with the blog post itself in the e-mail, or just a link to the post on my page). I had this feature when I had a WordPress free blog page, and it was fairly obvious how to set it up, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do this on my WordPress website, http://www.naturaintegrativemedicine.com
I do have a MailChimp widget where folks can sign up for my ListServ, which is working very well, but I don’t want to be sending blog posts to everybody on the ListServ – I want people to sign up separately for that.
Make sense?
Thanks for all your guidance – you guys are fantastic!
Cheers,

Yes, the default wordpress cms does not support such a feature and you can’t configure a subscription newsletter. The wordpress.com service uses some custom plugins/scripts which are not included in the wordpress cms core code. Again, I recommend to install a plugin like: Tribulant Newsletter Plugin or My Mail or search the wordpress plugin repository: http://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=subscribe for a free plugin.
