Hi,
When I search for a specific post within my site on google, google shows the the alt-text of the images in my post. See this link to see what I mean. My site is landgenoten dot com, the alt-text of the image is kies-144×144-tpr . This alt-text is auto-used for the most of 2000 posts.
How can I optimize my search-results?
Regards,
Erwin

Are you using an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO? If not then I would recommend that you start doing so.
Best regards,
RikardMarch 26, 2017 at 7:25 am #766835Hi Rikard,
I’m not using yoast or something similar. I’ve already thought about this, but if this is the only solution, I have to edit 2000 posts to get rid of the images….
So if you have other suggestions, they would be welcome!
Regards,
Erwin
March 28, 2017 at 8:04 am #767939Hi,
I checked the landgenoten dot com site but it doesn’t exist. The domain is actually for sale. What do you mean by this?

IsmaelMarch 28, 2017 at 10:46 am #768025Hi Ismael,
I’m sorry, it’s vakantielandgenoten dot com.
Wit auto-used means that the database is filled with content from an older non-wordpress-site. In all that posts is that image with the alt-tag present.
Would you please look again?
Regards,
Erwin

March 30, 2017 at 12:06 am #769181Hey!
I can’t think of any other solution aside from installing Yoast and manually editing the page’s description or adding an alt text to the actual featured image of each page.
// https://yoast.com/snippet-preview/
How did you add the open graph meta data for each page?
Cheers!
IsmaelMarch 30, 2017 at 7:37 am #769312Hi,
Thank you for thinking with me. I’ve looked at it a bit further in my site and noticed that it isn’t an alt-text which is shown, as I suspected… It’s the image name, as above it in the library.
How can it be that this is shown in google? Never noticed this before with images.
Regards,
Erwin
March 31, 2017 at 6:10 am #769724Hi!
It’s actually the alt attribute of the “check” sign beside the page title. If you search for the keyword “vakantielandgenoten ecuador”, you’ll find the alt attribute in the excerpt and upon visiting the page, you’ll find the “check” sign or image.
<img class="alignnone wp-image-1554" style="border: 0px currentColor !important; border-image: none !important !important;" src="http://www.vakantielandgenoten.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/kies-144x144-tpr-80x80.png" alt="kies-144x144-tpr" width="20" height="20">
Another solution is to remove the alt attribute of the check sign or remove it completely.
Cheers!
IsmaelMarch 31, 2017 at 11:49 am #769884Thank you Ismael for diving into this. I tried to change the alt-tag for the image, but I can’t find the image in the media-library. I think I have uploaded it by FTP.
Do you know how I can register the image to the library?Regards,
Erwin
