Hi there,
I am building another new website based on Enfold (see link development site below) and experience something quite strange. I set up a child theme and always use the style.css in the child theme to add extra CSS.
What happened is that it seemed that changing the style.css didn’t have any effect on the site. By coincidence however I found out that when I save the theme options in wp dashboard first and then update style.css through ftp, the changes become effective on the site.
I have never ever experienced this before and believe this is very strange behavior… Too much hassle as well. I wonder if you have ever heard of this before? Do you have any idea what could cause this?
Thanks and best regards,

I think that’s because of the optimization feature added to Enfold.
Try to disable CSS file merging and compression found in Enfold > Performance.
Let us know if this helps.Best regards,

That indeed helped.
Obviously something you would have to look into further? Since optimization is all we all want these days!
Thanks & regards,

Glad we could help :)
If you are still in the stage of making changes to your site, you can disable merging and compression and enable it once it’s ready for production.
If you need to remove the old js/css file, you can check Delete old CSS and JS files? (still in Enfold > Performance) and save changes so it fetches the new css/js code.Best regards,

Ok, I understand the ‘workflow’ you suggest.
Why would I remove the old js/css file?

MoniqueJune 22, 2018 at 12:28 pm #976288Hi Monique,
Basically the Enfold optimizes the css/js scripts by merging all css/js files and compresses it into one file which is generated.
This file is cached to your browser, so if there are new updates to the scripts and it is already compressed, you need to remove the old css/js file to generate a new one which contains the latest changes in your settings.Best regards,

Aha, ok I see. Thanks for the explanation. Would you keep this option checked all the time?

MoniqueJune 22, 2018 at 7:58 pm #976450Hi Monique,
No, you just need to check the changes you made especially css and it doesn’t display or fetch the new css.
Glad that we could always help :)Best regards,
