Good afternoon my awesome Enfold development team!!! :)
What do you suggest I can do to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML?
Google Page Speed Insights is recommending to
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

January 23, 2015 at 9:11 pm #384627Hi havi!
Most of our scripts load in the footer but you can try this plugin out to force them all in the footer, https://wordpress.org/plugins/scripts-to-footerphp/, if you see weird behaviour though then it would be best to remove the plugin.
The best way to speed up your site is to use a caching plugin such as W3C cache or WP Supercache. A minify plugin such as BWP Minify is good also, https://wordpress.org/plugins/bwp-minify/.
Cheers!
ElliottJanuary 23, 2015 at 10:24 pm #384679Thank you Elliott!!!
I will try them out this weekend and see how they behave. I will keep you posted on best results!!!

January 26, 2015 at 9:09 am #385291February 18, 2015 at 4:28 am #397942Havi, did you have any luck with scripts to footer or bwp-minify? I currently have 81 css scripts lol! By God I think im going to need to hire someone for this but let me know if you had any luck! Thanks
Also, there is a plugin called Dequeue Font Awesome that removes extra Font Awesome stylesheets added to your theme by several plugins. This is a good lightweight plugin to have for everyone using the Enfold theme.

@hatchman33 Thank you for suggestion :) I hope @havi checks the topic soon :)Best regards,
YigitFebruary 18, 2015 at 5:25 pm #398286Hi @Hatchman33 and @Yigit !!!
Thank you for the tips!! I am still working on this but so far I discovered some incompatibilities that the ESSB plugin had internally with its own caching (they suggested turning it off and it worked) and before adding another cache plugin. They are working on making things happen on the other site of the multisite.
But I’ll get there!!!

Great! Please keep us posted on any progress on this topic.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 2, 2015 at 1:00 am #467293Oh! No way! Yesterday I wrote a long explanation of all that I had tested and now it’s gone… :( I’ll try to re-write it later today..
July 2, 2015 at 1:07 am #467295Quick question Elliott, should I use the minify plugin you suggested instead of the minify function from W3TC? (that btw, I think it breaks Enfold’s behavior as now Layout Elements shortcode is not fully responding – 1/3, 1/3 and 1/3 and the text that follows is left aligned as if it was on the last 3rd piece that has to be empty, tried adding a whitespace after it, a full width line and could not make it behave appropriately)
I’ll add the details of the W3TC setup I used and the hosting. but I still have the same problem, except now it’s from cache… isn’t; this crazy? ;)
Ok… until later!!
Warmly,
Havi
July 2, 2015 at 6:10 pm #467672OK… Here it goes… I am being hosted with Media Temple VPS. Apache server and optimized by them (still not very happy). I also use Ewwww plugin to reduce image size and I manually lower the weight of most images before uploading.
To setup W3TC I used this guide:
http://code.tutsplus.com/series/configuring-w3-total-cache–cms-656
With the following changes:
Not using the Minify function because it was really slowing down the site as per Google Page Speed Insights.
For the Page Cache settings I did not check the compatibility mode (somehow that 20% slowdown freaks me out)Somehow these settings do not seem to work. Google Page Insights still insists on leveraging browser caching (what??) and several other complaints. Like image size, etc. I have noticed that the related posts images are not displaying as they used to (square thumbnails) but a CSS resized version of the full sized image. Changing this would definitely help with image size.
As I said before, originally I had the minify settings just like it indicates on the TUTS guide and Google Page Speed Insights was still showing Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content but this time, the urls were /cache/ ones. Strange, huh? Also, the speed grade was even worse than without the minify, so I removed it.
Here’s the page insights of the site I am using for testing: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbodasyweddings.com%2Fpeinados-con-trenzas-para-novias-paso-a-paso%2F&tab=desktop
Here’s my questions:
– Anybody has a good guide of the best settings to setup W3TC with Enfold?
– An idea on how to fix the thumbnails resizing?
– Should we use a different plugin for Minify?
– Any other suggestions are more than welcome!!!!Let’s do this together and power up our sites!!
Warmly,
Havi
July 2, 2015 at 6:21 pm #467678I also thought I would share this article that is from this year and benchmarks cache plugins. (I still wonder about Super Cache though… it has 5 stars and over 70K installations – has anybody tried it?)
http://wpdevshed.com/best-wordpress-cache-plugin/
I did test WP Super Cache but the speed results on Google Page Insights were horrible so I switched to W3TC…
July 2, 2015 at 6:41 pm #467695I paid a guy $400 to optimize my site using w3total cache, I also am using maxcdn which gives huge imporvements! Let me know if you would like the config file to import my settings to your site. On gtmetrix both my scores are above 90%.
July 2, 2015 at 6:44 pm #467696You betcha!!! That is the sweetest and most selfless thing I have heard in a long time!!! Would you like to send me an email via my site?
Warmly,
Havi
July 3, 2015 at 2:46 am #467806Yeah I just checked your site, there is no option to add an attachement. Just email here at A (Email address hidden if logged out) . I have the config file waiting for ya. You will have to disable the cdn part. Hope it works for ya! PS, I am also using a vps.
