Hi ,
We had another thread on this that’s closed now, but both your suggestions didn’t work this time.
I’m trying to use a Special Heading – I want it to say
I’m a Water PersonSo, I’ve tried your backslash solution and it appears in the code, but not in the blog post – no heading at all.
[av_heading heading='I\'m a Water Person' tag='h3' style='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='custom-color-heading' custom_font='#5f3194'][/av_heading]I also tried using the series of special characters for the single quote without spaces, and it changes it in my edit window to “I’m”, without the special characters anymore, but then nothing appears in my post.
I guess I didn’t learn this one properly. Can you help? Thanks.

use this shortcode for your special heading:
[av_heading heading='I'm a water person' tag='h3' style='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='' custom_font='']I'm a water person[/av_heading]
You can find a list with the HTML number (which you need to use) for any ASCII character here: http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm
Cheers!
AndyJune 23, 2015 at 11:20 am #463271Hi Andy – if you go see it now, you’ll see that code didn’t work. It put in a grey and white box instead. (under photo)
Also, as mentioned up top, I tried using the codes at the link you provided before (in previous thread). If I enter the code in the Special Heading Box, it then becomes the correct symbol in the Post Edit window, but then no heading appears at all in the actual post when I click Preview.
I need something simple I can do every time. One of your team suggested backslashes \ before the character, which worked when he gave me the full line of code, but when I did it and just put a backslash before the ‘ in the code, it didn’t work.
Any further advice?
June 24, 2015 at 10:46 am #463888Hi!
could you try it with a default WordPress theme please and let us know which results you get?

There was a small bug with private content field which is now fixed. Can you please post the private content you would like to share?

YigitSeptember 22, 2015 at 10:08 pm #507395Hello – I’m still having problems using apostrophes in titles using Shortcodes “What’s …”. This wasn’t fixed in the last update. Is it still on the fix wish-list? It’s really an inconvenience when writing in English. As a reminder, the both the symbols and replacing title in html didn’t work. Thanks.
September 23, 2015 at 5:55 am #507469Hi!
I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We added the apostrophe html entity number for you: http://wp.me/p63JTR-3xK

IsmaelSeptember 23, 2015 at 12:26 pm #507667No worries Isamel and thank you. But almost every post has a title that should have an ‘ in it. Can you teach me a way that it will work so I can do it myself? Something different than the ones above as that didn’t work (at least when I tried it months ago). Thanks.
September 24, 2015 at 10:53 am #508269Hi!
Since you’re using the default editor, please insert the special heading without the apostrophe. When you’re done look for the actual shortcode in the editor. It will look like this:
[av_heading tag='h3' padding='10' heading='Im a water person' color='' style='' custom_font='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' custom_class=''][/av_heading]
Look for the heading attribute or parameter (heading=’I am a water person’). Add the apostrophe html entity number manually:
[av_heading tag='h3' padding='10' heading='I 9;m a water person' color='' style='' custom_font='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' custom_class=''][/av_heading]
In order to display the actual entity number in this thread, I have to add a space between the integer “3” and “9”. You have to remove that space. http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm
Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers!
IsmaelSeptember 25, 2015 at 2:38 pm #509047Hi – I gave it a try, but it didn’t work. Can you check what I did wrong? I remember trying the codes before, but it not working.
I was going for “It’s Your Turn”.
This is how it looked after I changed the short code in the editor.
[av_heading heading='It's Your Turn' tag='h3' style='blockquote modern-quote' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='custom-color-heading' custom_font='#5f3194'][/av_heading]
and this is what it did in my post preview (post is unpublished, so no live link) – see screen shot

September 26, 2015 at 9:53 am #509428Hey!
You have to switch to the Text or HTML mode. Look for the actual shortcode:
[av_heading tag='h3' padding='10' heading='I'm a water person' color='' style='' custom_font='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' custom_class=''][/av_heading]
Cheers!
IsmaelSeptember 26, 2015 at 11:58 am #509458Hi again – OK, so I switched to Text and found the shortcode. Then I added all the numbers as follows (without that space between the 3 and nine – I added that here so you could see). But it still shows up with all the symbols instead of “It’s Your Turn” in the actual post.
[av_heading heading='It 9;s Your Turn' tag='h3' style='blockquote modern-quote' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='custom-color-heading' custom_font='#5f3194'][/av_heading]
Please advise. A few months ago we had the same issue – you could use the codes at your end, but I couldn’t at mine. There’s something I’m missing or that doesn’t work on my system. I’m hoping it’s something I’m missing so we can resolve this. Thanks. You have private info in this thread to check it out. It’s at the bottom of the post – last title. Thanks.
September 28, 2015 at 8:21 am #509853Hey!
Thank you for the update. Is this the same post? Can you please provide a link to the page? We created a test page here: http://www.dominiquehurley.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=15214&action=edit
Cheers!
IsmaelSeptember 28, 2015 at 10:08 am #509901Hi Ismael – you didn’t create a test Page, you created a post that was sent out to my list by email. I got an email from one of my followers about it this morning. I’ve erased it from my website.
But I copied the code into “It’s Your Turn” into tomorrow’s draft post and it worked. I’m not sure why it did this time and not before… but it worked.
Thanks.

September 28, 2015 at 10:30 am #509909Actually – to follow-up, the title was there when I just did Preview the first time, but when I made some more edits and updated again, the title disappeared altogether. With new Updates to the post, the shortcode changed from ' to ‘. So I put it back in and will have to remember in the future that if ever I make any edits to any page with an apostrophe, I’ll lose my titles if it’s not the last edit I make. It would be really great if Kriesi put on the wishlist something that can fix this so that we can just type apostrophes in Special Headings like we can in post titles. Thanks.
September 28, 2015 at 10:36 am #509911Oops. Just in case you’re looking at it – it wasn’t tomorrow’s draft post, but Oct. 1 – The Law of Polarity.

Actually, post and page are actually the same thing, WP just classify them as a different post type. Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, that’s not the point. Did you see how the apostrophe html entity works? We will forward the issue to Kriesi.
Cheers!
