It appears that php5.4 did drop this module, if we roll this back to an older php version, some of the WordPress plugins and theme options will stop working.
And this is what they say,
Yeah, the theme has over 200 calls for mbstrings, since we cannot install that here, the only other way to make this work is to have the theme developer make changes since it’s being phased out, or use a different theme.
Hi,
mbstring is not phased out, is a non-default extension, but most servers come with this activated whichever is the PHP version. I personally use it with Enfold in a PHP 5.5 server.
