We have a portfolio gallery with 1000 images http://goo.gl/6OE9Mr and our friends ask if it is possible to “Like” the single images when opened in the lightbox. And I had to say no is not possible you can like only the page not the images. There is a way to add the social icons to the images?

Not possible with Magnific Popup, but perhaps this plugin may work for you, it adds a Pin it button to all images – https://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-pin-it-button/screenshots/

is it possible to switch from Magnific Popup to prettyPhoto or is too complicated?

You can go to Enfold theme options and uncheck “Lightbox Modal Window” and install prettyPhoto as a standalone plugin
