Hello Team,
I used to have a WP text widget in the sidebar with all social icons. I used the code suggested by enfold support forum.
After migration to HTTPS all the text widgets have disappeared.
I read about some kind of bug concerning the text widget on WP 4.8
So I installed the “classic text widget” plugin. Every text widget is fine now but not the social icons.
They are not rendering fine and show the rectangle instead of the social icon.
Can you give me a help?
Thanks a lotJune 29, 2017 at 10:42 am #814338Hi,
I would imagine this is a CORS issue.
You have moved to https but some files / icons / images may still be being requested over http. If that is the case they will be blocked and thus don’t show.
Try this first off and see if it helps
http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-cors/In order to delve further and see any errors a link to the website would be handy, if you’re ok with that :)
Hope that helps
TJJune 29, 2017 at 3:30 pm #814534Hi turistai,
Did you try the @tjswarbs78 suggestion?
Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?Best regards,
VictoriaJune 29, 2017 at 5:12 pm #814592Hello Victoria,
No I didn’t yet.
I will do in a couple of hours.
See my website url below but I switched off the text widget to prevent users seeing the rectangle instead of the icon.
Thanks!June 29, 2017 at 7:44 pm #814646Hello Team
I have tried the @tjswarbs78 suggestion and nothing changed.
Still a rectangle instead of an icon.
Please use the temporary admin access I reported in the private area.
I switched on the text widget in the sidebar so you can verify.- This reply was modified 7 years, 4 months ago by turistai.
June 29, 2017 at 8:16 pm #814655Hey!
They show up fine on my end, attached a screenshot in private content field.
Please flush browser cache and refresh your page a few times – http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Hard_Refresh

YigitJune 29, 2017 at 8:52 pm #814669Thanks Yigit, but in the screenshot you sent I see a blank sheet.
Please see the attached screenshot in the private area. It is what I see on my end after refreshing some times.June 29, 2017 at 8:57 pm #814672This is the code I am using in the text widget:
<ul class=”noLightbox social_bookmarks icon_count_5″><li class=”social_bookmarks_facebook av-social-link-facebook social_icon_1″><span class=”avia_hidden_link_text”>Facebook</span><li class=”social_bookmarks_twitter av-social-link-twitter social_icon_2″><span class=”avia_hidden_link_text”>Twitter</span><li class=”social_bookmarks_instagram av-social-link-instagram social_icon_3″><span class=”avia_hidden_link_text”>Instagram</span><li class=”social_bookmarks_pinterest av-social-link-pinterest social_icon_4″><span class=”avia_hidden_link_text”>Pinterest</span><li class=”social_bookmarks_gplus av-social-link-gplus social_icon_5″><span class=”avia_hidden_link_text”>Gplus</span>
June 29, 2017 at 9:00 pm #814675Hi!
I re-inserted your social network icons into text widget and that helped. Please review your website
Best regards,
YigitJune 29, 2017 at 9:18 pm #814681Hi Yigit!
it is fine now. Social icons are rendering correctly. Thanks a lot.
I will check in the next days if the change I did in the htaccess – as suggested by @tjswarbs78 – will affect the https version.
I mean: if old http resources are recalled to render the social icons, maybe not always the green lock (secure) will be shown.
Is it right? What do you think?
p.s. great support as always!!June 29, 2017 at 9:40 pm #814690Hey!
You are welcome. We are happy to help as always :)
No. I think social icons did not show up because you were using the old code. Refreshing it simply corrected it. If other icons on your site showed up fine, you would not need to refer to @tjswarbs78’s post :)
If you would like, we can keep the thread open and wait to hear from you. Thread will be on hold until you reply.

YigitJune 30, 2017 at 10:52 am #814906So long as that green padlock shows you are fine and the code I linked to wont be needed. Keep hold of it just in case though.
If using Google Chrome you can inspect a page and see any CORS / mixed content issues.
It will help identify if there are any http references to style sheets / images etc still being referenced.Hope that helps

thanks a lot for the new info. I am still using the htaccess code suggested by @tjswarbs78. I am planning to remove it tomorrow and follow up to check the padlock.
Guys I would like to thank you again for the quick and kind support. :)
