    Dear support team,

All my social icons and special symbols disappear after 1 or 2 days sometimes even within hours. To make them come back I only need go into the login screen for the back-end (../wp-login.php). I actually don’t even need to login. Just going there makes the font come back. After a while the icons are vanished again and I only see those ugly blocks.

If the icons are missing, they are missing on different computers with different browsers. So it is not a local problem with browser cache or something.

I figured out it seems to be a cross origin problem. I read this thread and added the the code into my .htaccess file, but with no success.

btw: this problem exists since many new updates – I have installed the latest version.

I was digging a little bit deeper, and found out it could have to do with the “www” in front of my address as you might see in the screenshot in the link above. I have no clues anymore what to do. Please help.

    Best regards

    Hey Mayamagik,

Please deactivate all plugins one by one to check which one is causing this issue and let us know if this solves the problem.
In addition to that, please let us know if we are allowed to deactivate one or more of your plugins as well for testing purposes :)

If that doesn’t help then there might be some corrupted files, so please delete all theme files completely via FTP, before installing a fresh copy from your themeforest account. Here is a short tutorial on how to install the theme via FTP, in case you are not sure how that works:

    Best regards,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

I don’t have any fancy plugins installed. All the plugins I use on my website I also installed on other websites as well I use enfold with – never had a problem like this. Anyhow I disabled them all except from the YOAST SEO plugin. I also put up a brand new enfold folder via ftp, which I also did before but to be absolutely sure this is done again as well.

Well now I have to wait a day to see whether this issue comes up again. I will let you know then. Of course you can feel free to deactivate the SEO plugin as well if that helps to find the problem.

    best regards

    Hello Andy,

I did everything you said. Fresh copy enfold via ftp and ALL plugins have been disabled. Now I just got back to the page and all icons are gone again. It only took 2 hours from restoring the icons by going into the login page to the moment they vanished again. So the problem must be somewhere else. Please feel free to do whatever it takes to find out the reason. I just went to the login page (without logging in) and guess what – they are back. I am very, very sure they are gone again in about 2 hours from now. Please help!

    Best regards

    Hi Christian,

All icons on your page is displaying on my end, in what browser are you seeing this? Clearing your browser cache and reloading a few times might help.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

I went to the login-page by accident yesterday, so maybe the icons have still been “temporally restored” from that. Now that I have taken a look on the page. The icons are missing with Firefox and Chrome but not on Safari even though I eased the cache and reloaded many times. It is the same situation on my friends computer right now.

The magic happens, when only I go into the login page of the website. Right after that the icons appear in my Firefox and in the Firefox of my friend’s computer. I also tested this effect with other computers from people I know – even in different counties.

It is not a local problem in my humble opinion. Please try again now.

    Best regards

    Hi,

your icons are loading fine for me: http://i.imgur.com/7fJgzHr.png

Sounds to me as a caching issue. Make sure browser cache is empty and hard refresh a few times.

    By the way beautiful website.

    Hi Andy,

It is so frustrating with this sporadic emerging errors. That reminds me so much of a situation I had with my first car. Suddenly without any forewarning while accelerating on the highway the car lost all its power and sometime the engine even stopped while I was still rolling. Right after that the car drove on like nothing happened. After it did that for the 10th time I brought it to a garage. The experts checked the car and couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Right away I told them it must be something with the fuel injection, but they asked me whether I pushed the pedal right.

This situation repeated 5 or 6 times till the error showed up while me and the mechanic took a testdrive together. Guess what – it was the electronic for the fuel injection.

So straight for the website. I don’t know how or why the icons show up again. I did not to go to the login-page, maybe you did. They also show up for all my browser and they also suddenly show up for all the browsers on my friends computer. I will continue to monitor this situation.

As I tried to explain many times before. If the icons are gone they are gone on all different computers (at least always on firefox/chrome) I could check it on simultaneously – and they remain to be gone no matter how often you do the cache refresh or you reload the page. I just need to go on ONE of these different computer and browsers into the login-page of my website (../wp-login.php) and the icons reappear on ALL computers with ALL browsers. That convinced me at least, that it is not a local cache problem.

I will send you a message when the icons have disappeared again, but since I am in the wilderness for the next 3 days – you wont hear from me that soon. Maybe you just check it again tomorrow. Thank you anyhow.

    Best regards

P.s. Also thanks for the flowers regarding my website.

    Hi,

hm, weird, but yeah monitor and let us know if you need help with it again. You can also check with a default WordPress theme, if the issue persist there too or not. I will keep this thread open for you.

    Best regards,
    Andy

Thanks, mate. I put up a couple of websites with enfold which I maintain and only this shows this effect.

    #672847

    Hi!

If they come back, when you login, it is most probably because of the cache been cleared.
That does happen sometimes, it is how servers cache the loged in users.

Please try to verify that, when you maintain the issue.

    Thanks a lot

    Cheers!

As mentioned many times – I don’t even login I just go on the login page without actually logging in and when I return all is good again – this procedure has also an effect on all other computers and browsers. I will let you know – maybe I even film that effect so you know exactly what I am talking about.
The best I can descibe it is: going to the login page (just that – without logging in) seems to reset a certain parameter on the server/in wordpress/enfold which has a global effect on all other individuals who access this website – for a while at least. After that the parameter switches back and I have a global problem all over again. I am observing this phanomena since 3 months now and already talked to other admins who are much more advanced than me. So coming here is really my last effort before I reset everything and start all over again.

    Cheers!

Ok – right now all icons are gone on all computers I have. Just 10min ago I checked on all computers and browsers and they were still there. I resist to go on the login page. So have a look yourself. If they appear on your firefox then I might get crazy with this issue.

    Hi,

it’s still working fine for me on firefox:

    Alright guys!

Thanks for your effort to help me, but this issue remains a mystery to me. Non of my several other enfold pages ever came up with such an effect. I am 100% sure it is not a local firefox cache problem. Whenever I see the icons are gone, I can call a friend somewhere else in the world and he has the same issue simultaneously. After a while the icons come back on their own as it seems, because I stopped going to the login page to reset them. I might have to reinstall the whole website it reckon. It frustrates me immensely because it comes and goes and I could not figure out what causes it, but I can learn to let go.

    Best regards

    Hi,

hm I’m sorry, but as you can see I cannot even see the issue. Sounds as a caching problem though. Ask your host if they are using any caching on your server.

    Best regards,
    Andy

Hi Andy, I already lookedinto the host settings and disabled all caching functions. It works since about 24h. Let’s wait a couple of days. Maybe this was the mystery setting that caused the phenomena.

    Cheers
