Hi, Google Pagespeed tells me, that it needs 4 seconds to load entypo-fontello.woff!
(Google text in german: Empfehlung: Wichtige Anforderungen vorab laden.
What is this file good for? (Do I need it?) Why does it load much longer than the other parts of the website – according to Pagespeed? (Just the link in the browser is very fast!)Pagespeed also says, I could save 1 second with using “font-display” to ensure the text is visible while loading webfonts.
How do I use “font-display”? And again: do I need entypo-fontello.woff??? I’m not using Google Fonts, I use Helvetica for all texts.
Cheers and thanks in andvance!

entypo-fontello.woff Is the icons font, you cannot really substitute with the fallback with the font-display.

VictoriaMarch 4, 2019 at 12:20 pm #1074321Hi Victoria,
thanks for your answer. Unfortenately I don’t understand it completely.
Okay … it’s the Icon-Font …
If I don’t use Icons, can I somehow “delete/disable” the link to the file?“you cannot really substitute with the fallback with the font-display”: I just don’t understand. Sorry!
If you check my Website: https://www.thiersch.com/eventfotograf-hamburg/
here:https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
you will see at “Diagnostics” that there is a big problem with entypo-fontello.woff
How can I solve this? Thanks in advance!

March 6, 2019 at 9:13 pm #1075636Hi cap10kai,
The rule for font-display works in such a way that the browser will show the font from the system until the font is loaded from the server, and so not many users have the icon font on their systems and so this font cannot be substituted.
Are you not using icons at all on your website?

VictoriaMarch 7, 2019 at 11:06 am #1075913Hi Victoria,
I’m using three Icons on my website. Is it better for the performance if I don’t use them? The Icons are not that important for me.
I don’t understand: is Enfold using the function “font-display”? It does not look like, because Google suggest to use it: “Sie können Gebrauch von der CSS-Funktion “font-display” machen, um sicherzugehen, dass der Text für Nutzer sichtbar ist, während Webfonts geladen werden.”

BasilisMarch 13, 2019 at 7:27 pm #1078346Hi! No, I can’t! I ask YOU!
As I told you above: I don’t understand that point, but Google Pagespeed tells me I’m not using it.
Have you checked my site in Pagespeed? There you see my problem … (very long loading time for entypo-fontello.woff)
So please explain it to me. Thank you!March 18, 2019 at 4:07 pm #1079929Hi,
We are loading the fonts according to the way we fill it will increase the loading section.
We can discuss it with our developers as an option.Best regards,
