Hi, I am suddenly having trouble with my site loading – the pages load very very slowly and it’s very tedious to edit. I am working with WPML making a 2nd site in Danish – could this be slowing it down? I can’t tell if it’s the server or my site. Is there a way to test what is slowing it down? It’s mainly on the backend that it’s slow (when I am trying to edit and reload the pages). The site itself seems OK. any ideas?
    thanks

    Hi,
I have the same problem of Munford.
The site is very slow in loading Control Panel pages and public pages too.

By using W3 Total Cache the public website becomes quickier, but the panel is really unusable.

    Can you help me?

are you using WPML 3.1? Just found out it’s full of bugs – they have released a BETA 3.1.4 version that seems to work better. My admin is fast again after installing it.

how did you installed it? Adding the new plugin?
And the old one? Shall I lose the inserted contents?

We have released a beta version for WPML 3.1.4. This version includes fixes for everything that was reported for the problematic WPML 3.1 release.

this is the reply I got from WPML that I used – you do not lose the setting you already have when you deactivate the old WPML, but you should run a back-up of your site. This has been very frustrating for me for the past 4 days & I lost tons of work!

You can get it from your WPML account. Go to Downloads, scroll to the bottom and you will see the beta package. Right now, it’s 3.1.4-b1.

This ZIP includes several ZIP files of the individual WPML components. First, unzip it locally, get the parts that you need and upload them.

The safest way to update the plugins is to:
    1. Deactivate (don’t worry, your content doesn’t change)
    2. Delete the folders with the older versions
    3. Upload the new versions
    4. Activate

Munford, thank you for the help.
I made the operation suggested, but my control panel is still very slow.

I hope in an answer by enfold team too.

    Hey!

Have you tried increasing the wordpress php memory limit? Please refer to this link. You can post the link of the website here so that we can check it.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I upped the php memory on my site on the wp-config.php file to 128
could you check my site to see if it’s ok? I did not see any change, but maybe it’s not anything I should see?
    thanks

    Hey!

Looks like your memory limit is upped to 1024 right now so that should help quite a bit in loading up from the backend.

    Cheers!

ok thanks! it’s going much better now.
Is there any problem with upping the memory?

I tried to run the website on localhost, and I experienced the same slowness.

    Hi!

I recommend to ask the WPML support team for performance hints. They know the plugin code better than we do and maybe you can tweak the configuration somehow to improve the performance. If this doesn’t help I recommend to try another hoster.

    Regards,
    Peter
