We have been exclusively using Enfold for over 3 years now and have always had issues with site speed. We employed using some of the built-in performance features like css and js file compression and are using Siteground’s SG Optimizer plugin since we host with them. We do spend quite a lot on Google Ads each month and the site speed issues are becoming a problem with our AdWords bidding. So we need to get beyond a “B” PageSpeed score and “E” Y-Slow score.

There are numerous plugins claiming they are the best thing since sliced bread. Does anyone have any really good experiences with any of them? Top candidates seem to be WP Rocket, Autoptimize and WP Optimize. And yes I have already read the 100/100 article published by Kriesi some time ago – it does not answer my question in detail.

If you glance at the report linked above you can specifically see the details. Many of the offending items in YSlow results are related to other scripts loading due to us using other functionality plugins like chat, etc.

    Hey crtdude,
Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the link to the test results. I have taken a look at it and the Yslow score, and I see that there is an explanation for each of the “F” items and what they expect to see changed, so it seems that a person could manually make some of these changes.
But it seems to me that Yslow is targeted towards static html sites because of the “Reduce the number of DOM elements” recommendation, which is not going to be possible.

I ran a different test on your site using WebPageTest.org and found that out of a 15s load time the “tawk.to” (chat client) took 9.5s

but other than that your site seems to be loading good for WordPress with plugins.
As for cache plugins, I have seen very few problems with WP Rocket and WP Optimize, but Autoptimize is often the first thing to disable to solve issues.
    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Mike
