    Hello –

    We just updated our theme, and now the site isn’t loading. http://www.sailing-jworld.com We’ve tried multiple computers and mobile and get only a spinning circle. I can still log into the admin. Not sure where to start… restore a backup?

    Hi,

    Please try to completely remove the theme folder from the server, then upload a fresh copy to see if that helps. If not then please try to disable all plugins to see if there is a conflict coming from any of them. If you can’t access the dashboard then you can rename then plugins folder via FTP.

    Hi Rikard –

    Thank you so much for your help…
    I renamed the parent theme folder to enfold_old and tried to upload a new copy of the theme, but received the following error:

    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the theme…
    The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    Theme installation failed.
    Warning: Error while sending QUERY packet. PID=2018196 in /home/sailin9/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1924

    Looks like the site is working again for some reason, but the formatting is all off. In WP admin, the child doesn’t show up , and it just says:

    Broken Themes
    The following themes are installed but incomplete.

    Name Description
    Enfold Child Theme The parent theme is missing. Please install the “enfold” parent theme. Delete

    Hi,

    This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken. If you are getting the no style.css message it means you aren’t actually uploading the actual theme file.

    When you download the theme files from themeforest you can either download:

    – All files (with documentation, psd files, wordpress theme, licence, versions file etc).
    -: Only the theme files.

    If you download only the theme files and upload them to your server the theme will work fine. If you download “All files” you need to unpack the downloaded zip file first. Inside you will find another ZIP file that contains the actual theme files. This is the folder you can upload to your server.
