This is continuing a support ticket regarding the accordian function when updating and saving caused an ERR_EMPTY_REPSONSE error (resulting in the site being unavailable for a minute or so) https://kriesi.at/support/topic/accordian-breaking-site-temporally/page/2/#post-934917
There is an error in the theme which us returning that error – using the same content in another theme (ie. Twenty Seventeen) does NOT not give that error. I have tried the advanced ENFOLD editor as well as the default and both send back the ERR_EMPTY_REPSONSE.
See content I have attached. Try adding this to any ENFOLD themed site and making changes ie. changing the country names to h4 headings you will get the error.

Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

Thank you for the info. Please wait for the rest of the team to check the thread. We already know that the admin-ajax.php file is not accessible for a period of time after attempting to update or save a page. I found an old thread with the same exact issue and it described how mod_security directive blocks the file to protect the site from various attacks, mistakenly detecting the request as malicious or harmful. Maybe, this is what’s happening in your installation.

Hi they(the host) removed the admin-ajax.php file and this was their response after I told them it’s still not working:

No that is not the case when you switch themes you can add the text to a default editor and it works fine to update.
The default editor works because it’s not creating too many requests via the admin-ajax.php file. We can clearly see the error in the console after updating the theme with the advance layout builder. The admin-ajax.php file is not found or not accessible. Please check the screenshot.
Best regards,
IsmaelApril 5, 2018 at 6:14 pm #937848Yes but why in the default editor of Enfold does that error happen? It’s just plain text in the enfold default editor. Does that call on the admin-ajax file?
April 6, 2018 at 10:48 pm #938424Hi,
Yes it does, but seems that the memory limit allows it to run.
most probably you need to contact your hosting provider to increase the limit.Best regards,

We are very sorry for the confusion. I tried to debug the issue again on a test page. The problem starts to happen when the page or post reach a certain amount of content or bytes. I added 12 simple text blocks in the page, a total of 3309 bytes. The page is still updating properly up to this point. As soon as I used the text above, the content size increased to 18157 bytes. This time the error started to occur again. I found this documentation which is probably related to the issue.
Please ask your hosting provider to increase the value of the “SecRequestBodyNoFilesLimit” directive. Or ask them to whitelist the “admin-ajax.php” file from the mod security rule.
Best regards,
IsmaelApril 10, 2018 at 5:52 am #939575Hey!
One user managed to fix the same issue. He asked his hosting provider to exlude the “admin-ajax.php” file from the mod_security rule.

Cheers!
IsmaelApril 15, 2018 at 11:39 pm #942342I got word back that the admin-adjax.php file isn’t in the mod_security rule. Any other ideas?
April 17, 2018 at 4:34 am #942889Hi,
Thank you for the update. I’m out of ideas but we do know that the admin-ajax.php file is not found or is not accessible in your server. I don’t know which directives or configurations are blocking it but it’s not accessible. Please ask themeforest for a refund or try to test the theme on another server.
Best regards,
Ismael -
