    website – faithtelecom.com

within the past day an error showed up on the website. at first the error blocked us from getting into the admin. After I went into the ftp and deactivated then reactivatged the theme the site and the back end are accessible but cant get rid of this error

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/customer/www/faithtelecom.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/slideshow_layerslider/slideshow_layerslider.php on line 28

Warning: session_start(): Cannot start session when headers already sent in /home/customer/www/faithtelecom.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/masonry_entries/masonry_entries.php on line 56

The theme is version 4.32. could this be part of the problem? I tried to automatically update the theme but its not giving me that option. whats the best way to do this?
should I be doing something else?

    Hey,

    Thanks for contacting us!

Yes, updating the theme would fix the issue. Envato has updated their API and we have implemented those changes in Enfold 4.5 so versions older than 4.5 require a manual update first.

Please refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-update/ and update Enfold to the latest version 4.8.3.

Then, please generate a Personal Token by referring to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token and insert it in Enfold theme options to receive auto updates :)

    Best regards,

this installation does not have a child theme. if I upload the updated version of the theme manually via ftp will i lose settings/styles/customizations ?

    Hi,

If you have made any changes on files such as functions.php, they will be overwritten. However if only customizations you made are in Enfold theme options, you can go ahead and update the theme. You will not lose those :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit
