I clicked the update button from my WP dashboard, after about one minute, I got a message that the site is unavailable. Then I push the Back button on my browser, trying to switch to my default theme, I can’t reach the WP dashboard either. I am feeling so frustrated again that the second time the site was broken after trying to update the theme. Is anyone here can give me some idea how can this happen? How to avoid this issue for the future updates? Thanks.
September 26, 2016 at 9:13 pm #691951I also am having a problem with my site after updating the theme, something is very wrong with my site, please advise asap
September 26, 2016 at 9:25 pm #691955I don’t know what’s going on with this update. After my site broken, I deleted the Enfold Child theme from my Godaddy, then upload the newest Enfold files using the FTP, but the site still no recovered.
September 27, 2016 at 3:06 pm #692263I have to spend a few hours to restore the site from my backup yesterday. I am afraid to update the theme now. Any one please give me some idea how to update the theme without having it broken my site?
Thanks.
September 28, 2016 at 2:56 pm #692700Hi,
What was the exact issue?
If you would like us to update the theme for you, please create a temporary admin login and post it here privately with FTP logins.
If you would like to test firstly on a testing environment, please refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/ and post logins to that installation.Best regards,
YigitSeptember 28, 2016 at 3:23 pm #692737Yigit,
I really don’t know what caused the issue. I updated the theme on my WP dashboard, it took at least 2-3 minutes in update mood, then it became a blank page (both on WP dashboard and my site) and showing the page is temporarily unavailable. I deleted the Enfold Child theme from my Godaddy, but the site did not use the parent theme. Then I have to restore the site from my backup.
This is the second time happened when I updated the theme, and the site become unavailable. I do want you take a look at what’s the problem that caused the site down when update the theme. Login info in private message below.
Thanks!

If you are giving us the permission, we will update the theme via FTP. Same issue may occur once again so please make sure that you have backups.

Yes, you have my permission to update the theme through do that for me and see what cause the problem. But can we do it after 5pm so that it won’t effect the business too much as we running Google advertising.

VinaySeptember 28, 2016 at 5:00 pm #692822Thanks Vinay, did you see anything wrong on my site that caused the problem from updating on WP? I do want to find a safety method for future updates.
September 28, 2016 at 6:06 pm #692836Hi,
My guess is files were not overwritten correctly the first and that caused the issue and when Vinay updated the theme via FTP, all went well :)
Best regards,
YigitSeptember 28, 2016 at 6:25 pm #692846Got it, so I will update the theme through FTP next time instead of updating on WP directly.
Thanks for your support!
September 28, 2016 at 7:49 pm #692863Hi!
Like Yigit said files were not overwritten correctly and also the update via theme options should not take more than 10 mins max if you see the message “Website under maintenance” forever access the root folder via FTP and delete the .maintenance file. If you still face any issue just delete the enfold folder and upload a fresh copy of the theme.
Cheers!
