Hi all,
Sorry to bother you again. I had an earlier thread where I was having problems with the theme crashing some of my sites. I spoke to Yegit and he mentioned I need to upgrade the PHP version. I have tried 5.6, 7.0 and 7.1 and the problem is not resolving. The website now comes up but I cannot edit pages? Can you please take a look? Hosting and WP credentials are provided below. Thanks so much for your help….April 16, 2018 at 9:19 pm #942763Hey,
Please ask your hosting provider to check if the “admin-ajax.php” is being blacklisted by the “mod_security” rule.
Best regards,
YigitApril 17, 2018 at 4:52 pm #943165Hi guys,
I contacted them and thy said this is not the error. They are noting it is still the theme and pointed me to the error logs that again point back to the issue. Here is the line of code. What do we do next to get this back up and running properly? Thanks and I will look for your reply…
[16-Apr-2018 18:26:49 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home3/leadinu9/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php on line 6
April 17, 2018 at 5:36 pm #943168Hi,
Issue occurs on servers running PHP versions older than 5.6. You can either upgrade your PHP version to minimum 5.6 and preferably to 7.x or replace /wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php file with this one – https://www.dropbox.com/s/r389b5x4ippscyn/header.php?dl=0 to bring up backwards compatibility with older PHP versions.
Cheers!
YigitApril 17, 2018 at 5:55 pm #943181I just upgraded to php7.1 again and the error is still occurring. I just keep getting bounced back and forth between you and the hosting co with you both blaming each other. It is starting to get really frustrating. Now that I am 7.1 why is the error still occurring?
April 17, 2018 at 8:03 pm #943240I spoke to BlueHost and they kicked it up to their development team and they still claim it is the theme after an hour of troubleshooting. We have tried absolutely everything at this point and the only thing that works is changing the theme. The only real problem I still seem to be having is not being able to edit the posts. I just get a spinning wheel. Please let me know what you can do to resolve the problem.
April 17, 2018 at 8:39 pm #943244So I have no upgraded the php to 5.6, 7.0, 7.1. We have replaced th header.php with the file you provided. We uninstalled and reinstalled the theme. None have worked.
This sit is acting fine the issue is I can no longer edit the pages. Avia just gives me a spinning wheel. I will hold tight until I hear back from you as to not clog things up but I wanted to keep you updated on everything we have tried. Hope you can remove this for me. Thanks!
April 19, 2018 at 10:10 am #944001Hi,
Where can we reproduce the issue? The builder works when I edit one of the existing pages. We also created a test page. ( see private field )
Best regards,
IsmaelApril 19, 2018 at 6:19 pm #944213Thanks for your help guys. After quite a bit of back and forth I hired a developer who discovered we needed to do a fresh install of WP. So for anyone with th same issues that is you best bet. You can close the thread.
