Hi,
I have just updated my site from enfold 2.9.2 to the latest available, in addition to updating to wordpress 4. I use a child theme. On various pages I should have right sidebars. Since the update the sidebars have gone, leaving just a border line. I looked at all the relevant settings but couldn’t change anything. I tried changing the proportions of sidebar and main column, but that didn’t change anything.
Luckily, I had manually upgraded and had simply renamed the original version of enfold. I have now renamed the new version, so I have stopped using 3.0.1 at the moment. As soon as I reverted to the previous version of enfold, the problem vanished, without any setting changes.
Luckily, the update isn’t really necessary for me, but I’d prefer to update if I can.
Any ideas?- This topic was modified 10 years ago by brian7454. Reason: don't want links online that no longer exist
October 20, 2014 at 3:09 am #338086Hey brian7454!
Thank you for using Enfold.
Did you add any modifications regarding the sidebar? Version 3.0.1 is using a different grid system so any modifications on that area might break the layout of the theme. Please update to 3.0.1 then toggle any option on Enfold > General Styling > Dimensions panel. Save changes.
Cheers!
IsmaelOctober 20, 2014 at 9:00 am #338192Hi,
Nope, no modifications. When I set the site up I didn’t use sidebars at all, and only added them once the rest was okay.
That said, as I said above, I tried adjusting the dimensions (I saw mention in another post) and it didn’t change anything.October 21, 2014 at 7:40 am #338856I’m having exact same problem. I got two websites, on one the sidebar vanished and on the other it moved to the bottom. After updating enfold and wordpress. Tried all the above and doesn’t work.
October 23, 2014 at 11:58 am #340012After the enfold update i get a sidebar on normal pages and posts but nolonger on page with a slider or portfolio, i just get a white space on the sidebar area. I remove the slider or portfolio then the sidebar appears again. Before the enfold update this was no problem

October 24, 2014 at 6:38 pm #340750This upgrade is a nightmare.
I’d sorted the site out properly and was disappointed to see that it broke sidebars and widgets, and also affected css. I hadn’t deleted the original theme, only moved it, so I put it all back together and my main site is still using 2.9.something.
I created a second site so that I could set up a duplicate site to experiment on and see what was going wrong. I installed wp4 on the new domain, added the latest 3.whatever version of enfold (downloaded today) , then copied the child theme across. I imported the pages and widgets, having exported them from my original site, then tried to stitch it all together.
I looked at the home page after trying to fix stuff and realised the css was messed up. It seems the child css was being overridden by a styles.css that has appeared in uploads/dynamic_avia. I have no idea where that comes from as it uses colours (for example for the header text) that I haven’t been using on this site or the original. If I delete that css file, the child theme css still isn’t working, nor apparently is the main theme css – I’ve got what I suppose are default blue menu items and zero background, for example.
It isn’t a case of not having overwriten the original theme files. They never existed on the new domain. And most of the tickets I’ve been reading along similar lines don’t seem to be getting definitive answers. Including this one. It’s now 5 posts without reply.

October 27, 2014 at 3:44 pm #341550Hi,
since I’ve updated my site to version 3.0.2 of Enfold, my (right) sidebar is missing, too. I’ve deactivated all plugins, toggled the settings under Enfold > General Styling > Dimensions panel as suggested above, tried several widget and sidebar options as well as other, layout related settings. None of these things made a difference, the sidebar is still gone. In contrast to Fdijk’s observation, my sidebar won’t appear no matter what elements I choose on a page. The only way to get a sidebar is to create a post or a page with only a few characters and place the sidebar on the left. Right hand sidebars won’t show at all. The vertical delimiter is shown and also a div-element called ‘container_wrap container_wrap_first main_color sidebar_right’, but not the content of the sidebar itself.Next thing I did was a downgrade to Version 2.9.2. The sidebar was there again, but the header and the post/blog content were shifted about a hundred pixels to the left and the This means that I can’t use the 3.0.2 nor an older version of Enfold.
Therefore, I second brian7454’s request. Please guys, try to sort out the problem.
October 28, 2014 at 4:15 am #341961Hey!
We are very sorry for the delay. Please post the page url with the sidebar issues. We would like to check it. The grid system has been modified on the latest update of the theme. A lot of users reported this issue and toggling the settings on Enfold > General Layout > Dimensions panel fixed it for them. If you have a cache, minify, cdn activated, please deactivate them or purge the cache. Any modifications regarding columns, containers or grids that you added before should be adjusted.
Regards,
IsmaelOctober 28, 2014 at 10:11 am #342102I know that I can adjust settings as explained in the first reply to this post, and which in the opening message I said I’d done.
I also said that I had decided to abort the upgrade as it looked as if it would create too much repair work.Did you read my later post?
October 28, 2014 at 11:49 am #342151Hi,
I’ve found the reason for the vanished sidebar: quite a while ago, I added a section in my child theme’s function.php in order to adjust the sidebar’s width (see this thread). This customisation caused the bug.Since the layout can be determined by the dimensions option in the General Layout section, there is no need for the solution in the functions.php. It doesn’t go together with the new grid system anyway, so I commented the code snippet out of the functions.php and everything looks fine again: the right hand sidebar is there again. YES!
I guess this topic can be closed, since brian7454 stays with an older version and I managed to solve my problem.
Thanks for the answers & kind regards!
October 28, 2014 at 1:26 pm #342196Fichtenelch,
Thank you for deciding my ticket can be closed. Unless you are the arbiter of all things internet, kindly go start your own tickets. I have retained the old version because it created problems; your issues are not connected.
Had you or anybody else taken the time to read subsequent posts you would see the issues also affected a new install.
One week after the problem arose, or maybe more now, it still exists and I’m still not willing to mess up my site with an unpgrade that requires manually rebuilding every page. If it’s okay with you, I’d like a fix. I’m guessing other people who raised the same issue here and elsewhere would too.
October 28, 2014 at 5:00 pm #342315@brian7454 – I really didn’t mean to patronize you or anything like that. I just thought that since you’re going to skip the update, there’s at least no urgent need to have that thing fixed right away, that’s all. I’m not interested in any kind of non-problem related or technical discussion, so I’m saying sorry if I hacked you off with my last post. I hope you’ll find the bug that’s causing the trouble.
October 30, 2014 at 4:46 pm #343476Hi!
@fichtenelch: Thanks for confirming that the sidebar issue is non-existent. If possible, please stick to your own thread. :)
@brian7454: Please download the latest version 3.0.2 from your themeforest account then update the theme via FTP. Remove all sidebar customization including filter, hooks on functions.php and any column, grid, container css width modifications. Please refer to this link for more info: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/If you’re worried about messing up the site, you can create a test site first. Let us know if the pages with sidebar are broken.
Regards,
