I just updated to version 3.3.1 on my development site and all of the sidebar widgets have been removed from my blog and pages

I’d like to install the updated theme but do not wish to have to recreate the sidebars. Any advice?
Also – I am using a child theme.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi beezdezines,

Could you please provide us with a temporary admin login so that we can take a closer look? You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

    Best regards,

Thank you – however I have already added them back.
They were all listed as inactive
Just wondering why that would happen on an update…

    Hi!

Starting from WP version 4.2, the register_sidebar function is required to have an id which breaks the theme’s custom widgets. You will find the assigned widgets relocated in the Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets section. This is not going to happen again on future updates. Also, make sure not to use any special characters when creating a custom widget.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I am running WP 4.3 and the only special characters I use is html in the text widgets; I haven’t created any custom widgets.

    Hey!

as Ismael already said it should not happen again on a future update. However, you could try to deactivate all plugins to see if one is causing this issue.

    Best regards,
    Andy
