Set widget next to logo?

Hi,
So i would like to place a widget, from a custom sidebar, next to the logo. Setting is menu, above logo, so i have enough space on the right of the logo. Now i’ve found the code to edit to make it happen, i was just wondering, is there an elegant way to accomplish this in the child-theme? Or do i need to do this hard coded in the parent theme folder?
