    None of my Separators are working – the Short separator isn’t even showing and I’ve had to use Layout elements to create space between text.

    Would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks!
    (I’ve set your access up.)

    Hey tesspaine,
    I was able to log in at the url in the Private Content area, but this has limited access and I has not able to view the admin panel or the page editor. Please up date the privileges to admin.
    Can you please describe the separators that you are trying to use in the content of the page.
    Currently your hr-short is set to a white background 0px high, making it not show. This code would make it a 1px high black line, is that what you are looking for?

    .hr-short {
        background-color: #000!important;
        height: 1px!important;
    }

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike, really sorry about that, thought I’d set as admin – will have to do that tonight.
    I had in place some Short Separators which weren’t showing at all (and had previously), also the White Space separators weren’t working (they had previously worked), I’d applied a 50px gap. So that’s why I’d added layout elements.

    Also, on the same page I had put a button in place which seemed to be working a month ago but recently was showing as text and I couldn’t get is working again so I had to change it to a centered text link.

    I was wondering if this was linked to using short code and if there was a clash in style somewhere?
    The code you’ve provided is that to be put in Quick CSS?
    Ideally I’d like to understand why the layout elements are not working on this page rather than create a workaround with Quick CSS.
    I will update your privileges tonight.
    Thanks Mike.
    Tess.

    Hi Mike, admin now active.
    Thanks.

    #926134

    Hi,
    Thank you for that, I see your avia-merged-styles css has not been created or is not loading. How did you update, via FTP or though the admin update panel?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #926170

    Hi, Mike. Just to give some context – I’ve taken over this site and am not entirely sure what previous administrators have implemented.

    So please would would you first clarify if the avia-merged-styles css is a style sheet which comes with Enfold (and should be included during any update of Enfold) or if it’s a customised css that a previous caretaker may have created.

    The last Enfold version update I carried out was a week ago and I did that through the admin panel.

    Thanks.

    Tess.

    Hi,
    Thank you, beginning with v4.2.5 we have added two files in the /wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/ folder

    avia-footer-scripts-c8fc90433a8cfedb73ae.js
    avia-merged-styles-9d9b4a6ce95edc.css

    (the trailing numbers change with each installation)
    When I look at your site I don’t see these loading, causes for this include security plugins blocking access to js files running in the /uploads/ folder, .htaccess rules, or updating the theme via FTP.
    I have tried disabling your security plugin and re-saving your theme settings to enable these files, but without ftp access I can’t see if they are being created or if your .htaccess file has rules blocking access to the folder.
    Please include FTP access in the Private Content area, so we may investigate further.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #926623

    I’ll post the FTP access tonight.
    Once I’ve given you FTP access and just so I’m clear on what’s happening will you be able to let me know what was causing the problem so that I can watch out for this in future or correct the issue so it doesn’t happen again.

    I never update via FTP, always through the admin panel so that can be ruled out as a possible cause.
    Thanks Mike.

    Also, and I don’t know if this is related but loads of my images on the site now have broken URLs and aren’t showing – I can see them in the cPanel but the thumbs are missing from Media and also on the pages they should be on.

    #926776

    here’s access login, thanks

    #927404

    Hello – is there any development on this? Thanks!

    #927425

    Hi,

    It appears the images are missing only from the front end but actually exist in the uploaded location (check the link in the private ) This image is missing from front page “About the BSoE” section.

    For testing purpose please re-upload this image from WordPress backend and let us know if that work.

    A plugin conflict may be one of the reasons for this issue.
    To find which plugin is causing the conflict please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your plugins page > Deactivate all active Plugins
    2. Update WordPress and Enfold to the latest version if you have not.
    3. Make sure all the plugins are updated.
    4. If the problem does not persist when plugins are turned off, activate one plugin at a time and refresh until you find the plugin in conflict.

    We await the results of your plugin compatibility test.

    Thanks for your cooperation :)

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    #927454

    Hi Vinay – thanks for coming back, I did have a look at the backend and did know that the images were there so thought that it was a broken links issue.

    This actually started as a Separator issue – which Mike was checking to see if
    avia-footer-scripts-c8fc90433a8cfedb73ae.js and avia-merged-styles-9d9b4a6ce95edc.css were being uploaded on Updating the Theme or if one of my security plugins was blocking their upload.

    Back to the broken image links issue. I have already downloaded from the backend and re-uploaded into WP and that works. (What I actually did was download the image from the backend to my desktop and put it back into Media via the admin panel – Can I re-upload from the backend direct into WordPress without first downloading the image to my desktop?)

    This is what I did to cause the broken links – a previous Admin User created the pages, I needed to delete this previous admin user, I re-assigned his pages to me then deleted the previous Admin User. That’s when the broken links issue occurred. So I know that the broken links are my fault – I can see the images in the backend but I don’t know how to relink them without downloading each image from the backend and re-uploading them via the admin panel.

    I’m very embarrassed, it was a really stupid mistake but any advice on how to re-link the image would be appreciated.

    #927493

    Hi,

    Ah! it’s part of a learning curve. You just got to know one way not to mess up in the future :)

    Please try this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ and regenerate all the images. Let’s see if that will fix the issue.

    If it does not then I’m sorry to say that you have to manually upload the images again.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    #928000

    Haha! yes, won’t be doing that again in a hurry! Well what ever works there is a solution, so it’s not all bad.

    Anyhoo, going back to my original query about the separators not working, and in this I can confidently say that it’s not due to any stupidity on my part :)

    Mike seemed to think that maybe the security plugins were preventing some of the Avia js uploads – any news on that?
    The area where it’s most noticeable in in the Members Area – I’ve already supplied details for access to that area. It’s affecting all separators, I’m mainly using the short and white space.

    Any thoughts would be, as ever, much appreciated.

    #928225

    Hi,
    Sorry, but I have been unable to solve this, I’m going ask the rest of the team to take a look. Thanks for your patience.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi, coming back to you on this as now, after the update to 4.3.1 EasySlider isn’t working – really need an urgent reply on this – is it a WordFence clash/problem? please help – the previous login details I supplied should still be active – so please can someone look at this as soon as possible?

    Thanks!

    #950755

    Hi,
    Sorry, I was unable to login, please check. Also please directly link to page for us to check.
    In my clean install the EasySlider is working, so I imagine there could be a conflict. Did you try disabling your plugins to confirm a conflict?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #950763

    Hi mike – have added the login again in Private content – the Home page is where the EasySlider is placed –

    Have now also noticed that the News page has lost it’s styling and on the individual posts (http://enamellers.org/handmadeedinburgh2018/) the footer has lost styling

    Thanks Mike

    Hi,
    Thank you, I was able to login, but I was unable to add the debugger code to run some tests.
    I got an error that the functions.php needs to be edited via sftp.
    Pleas add this code, or provide ftp access:

    //set builder mode to debug
    add_action('avia_builder_mode', "builder_set_debug");
    function builder_set_debug()
    {
    	return "debug";
    }

    Please add under:

    if(isset($avia_config['use_child_theme_functions_only'])) return;

    thanks

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #961384

    Hi Mike, sorry for the long delay on this. I’m supplying the log-in details here if it would be possible for you to run the debug code.

    #961528

    Hi,
    Thank you for the login, I found that you were using a very old PHP version 5.4 so I updated to v7
    I also updated your theme, and disabled a couple of plugins, looking for conflicts.
    But the easy slider and footer style is not solved, I will look into the more, but I wanted to give you a update.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #961532

    Thanks Mike, really appreciate the update.

    Ok, just so I’m clear the PHP issue was the version software, not the .php doc itself?

    Thanks.

    Tess.

    #961537

    By the way – I actually updated the theme on Tuesday morning so I’m not sure why that needed updating again, also I activated the ‘Cookies’ option in Enfold but that doesn’t seem to be working either. Just letting you know in case this helps you to narrow down what it may be causing this.

    Thanks Mike.
    Tess.

    #961919

    Hi,
    Your old PHP was the server software, it would have issues with many things such as plugins & themes.
    The Enfold version was also old, perhaps you updated it just before the next update but had to rule it out.

    I see that your site is in the “bsoe” folder on your server, which is inside another WordPress site. What site is that site?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #961972

    Hi, Mike, from what I understand that other folder is from a BSoE ‘Magazine’ which is no long in use – and I know there’s also two versions of WP in there – I started managing the site about 18 months ago so have picked up from numerous other people so part of my problem is not knowing why previous people have installed things and if I remove anything will that affect some other style or element.

    I always update the Enfold theme and WP the minute a new version is released as well as the plug-ins. At first I wondered if it was one of the plug-ins stopping the js or some other Enfold essential from loading properly. Obviously the back-end needs a good clear out.

    Hope this helps.
    Tess.

    #962487

    Hi,
    I’m starting to think that there may be issues where the other files are interfering.
    If it was me I would make a copy of your site, then purge the host and install one clean version.
    Would you mind if I tested by copying your site to my localhost (my computer) to see if it runs correctly on a clean install?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #971280

    Hi Mike, sorry for the delay in getting back (have been on holiday with no internet access).

    I’d really appreciate it if you would test the site from your localhost.

    Thanks Mike

    Tess.

    #972500

    Hi,

    We cant test from our localhost.

    Best regards,
    Basilis
