Hi
i found some Issues that influences my SEO, like for examples URLs that should not exist.Lets start with this one:
Where does this URL comes from?
https://maskenzauber.com/faq/embed/
This URL have never ever been crated by us and it seems that this is a kind of tweak/spinoff/ from this URL:Facts:
The …/embed/ URL is an existing URL – you can see it.
The …/embed/ URL can not be edited – so its not a page or a post.Question:
What is it?
How can i get rid of itWhy do i ask?
Cause its in the google-index and if there will be more from these ghost-URLs it will fuck up my SEO.Maren
September 17, 2018 at 1:40 pm #1010743Hey Maskenzauber,
The embed enpoint was introduced in WordPress 4.4 ( https://make.wordpress.org/core/2015/10/28/new-embeds-feature-in-wordpress-4-4/ ) and enables others to embed your website (i.e. with an iframe on their website). WordPress then redirects the url (i.e. https://maskenzauber.com/faq ) to the embed endpoint (i.e. https://maskenzauber.com/faq/embed/ ). You can’t edit the embed endpoint directly with the post editor but it will display the page/post content. If you want to deactivate the embed endpoint please install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-embeds/
Best regards,

i dont worry about the existence of embed-points.
i worry if these URLs end up in the google-index
How can i prevent this??Another SEO-Issue
This URL is not even indexed – its also ranks on position 2 for a searchphrase (and even worse – it ranks better than the untrashed, original URL):
maskenzauber.com/masken-shop__trashed/kopfschmuck/
1: Where does this “trashed” URL comes from?
2: whý isnt it “noindex”?
3: How do i prevent that from beeing indexed?Kind regards
MarenSeptember 21, 2018 at 12:28 am #1012541I had the same issue before.
Used a 404 redirect plugin so everything got redirected.numbers will drop, but with google it could take month or even years before everthing is gone
September 21, 2018 at 1:13 pm #1012761What do you mean with “Used a 404 redirect”?
Which one? What is it doing?
btw: We dont talk about how to handle nonexisting-URLs.September 22, 2018 at 1:37 pm #1013054Hi,
1: Where does this “trashed” URL comes from?
The reason why Google indexes this page is your sitemap which is generated by the Yoast SEO plugin. You can view all sitemaps here: view-source:http://maskenzauber.com/sitemap_index.xml , the page sitemap: https://maskenzauber.com/page-sitemap.xml also contains the url to masken-shop__trashed/kopfschmuck/2: why isnt it “noindex”?
I can’t tell you why it’s not set to noindex but it’s a Yoast configuration issue or a Yoast bug.
You’re using Yoast version 8.1 at the moment – please update to the latest version 8.2.1 so you can be sure it’s not a known bug which is already fixed.3: How do i prevent that from beeing indexed?
You can use the Yoast settings on the editor page to set the robots meta to noindex (screenshot: http://www.clipular.com/c/5212599961255936.png?k=6r0Mhf5Lkwvde3L5YS1G9Jo_Jbs ).Best regards,
