    Can a custom widget be used on the search page.
    I don’t like the default – as it was showing all the pages that were included in the theme.

    Hey rammandco,

    You could try to create a new sidebar under Appearance->Widgets. Then you would need to override search.php in you child theme. Then call the new sidebar on line 65:

    get_sidebar('your-sidebar-name');

    Interesting, i was able to change this through the customize menu, when i went to the search page. No code needed.
