I have a question about saving elements as a template.
In several websites we saved a lot of templates. What does this do with the memory? Does it increase the amount of Mb / Gb of a website a lot?
Maybe a strange question. But we have a website (see the private content) which the backup always is very large, more than 2 Gb. And we cannot figure out why. So I thought maybe we have too many elements / pages saved as templates…?
Thanks in advance for your help!

in most cases this is due to images and image optimization.
i have some customers that do upload the pure images from a high-end digital camera. so 50Gigapixel jpgs. These images have file-sizes more than 9MB compressed; and have dimensions that are not used by WordPress – on uploadiing all images bigger than 2560px will be recalculated anyway and saved as …-scaled.jpg (or png).
For the database itself only the scaled images are relevant, but for a backup the original images are saved aswell.

btw : you can see that these templates are only saved as txt files. Goto Import/Export and click on “Export Layout Builder Templates” only one txt file is saved.

    Hi,
Thanks Guenni007, the Layout Builder Templates are only text in the database and probably not the cause for the directory site.
Try going to your cPanel for your webhost and click on the Disk Usage

then scroll to the bottom were the directory tree is and expand it to show the directories and see which ones have the largest sizes:
    Enfold_Support_4673.jpeg
then you and determine if there is anything that you can remove to free up space.
Also look at your trash directory it could be holding a lot of old stuff:

    Best regards,
    Mike
