Rollover images on home page

Dear Kriesi,

I want to create a grid of images on my home page, each image having a rollover so that when someone moves the cursor (on laptop / desktop) over the image, an alternative image and caption appears. These images should then click through to different pages of the website.

I’m not sure whether this would best be done with a grid row, and images within each grid that have the rollover functionality, or whether there is some way to do this as a masonry or portfolio grid, where the preview images have this rollover functionality plus the ability to link to website pages.
