I am using Yoast with my site and need to hide all the META info when sharing with LinkedIn, et al. I tried following the steps here…
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/dates-in-snippets-removing-published-time-modified-time… this can’t be done through CSS, or deselecting options in the Enfold admin – I need to edit a template, so I need to know which template file and how to incorporate the change into my child theme.
You can copy/paste the URL (Private Content) in a LinkedIn ‘status update’ and note how the META info is displayed.
Thanks!September 18, 2015 at 4:02 am #505206Hi lzevon!
Thank you for using Enfold.
Did you switch from post to page? I was expecting the link to be a post but it’s not. It is a page. Pages don’t have meta infos by default.
Best regards,

Please try pasting the link in a ‘Share an Update’ using LinkedIn where it says ‘What’s on your mind?’ and you will see that the META information is in there (I don’t want it to be). So oddly, yes it is a Page that is including the META information of a Post I link to on that page. Strange and I don’t know how to remedy it.
Thanks,

Alright. I see what you’re talking about. Did you know that you can modify the text or summary before sharing it? You can even remove the image and the entire summary. Or do you want to remove it automatically? I’m not sure if that is possible though. Maybe, this plugin will help: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-author-date-and-meta-remover/
Cheers!
IsmaelSeptember 21, 2015 at 3:36 pm #506482Yes, I knew I could remove it once at LinkedIn, but was hoping to simplify the process by eliminating it from ever passing (and without a plugin if possible). It seems like it would be possible – just not sure which template file or best way to do that in a child theme environment?
Thanks!
September 22, 2015 at 6:02 am #506783Hi!
I’m pretty sure you can’t find the page meta info on a template file inside the theme, try to check the page.php or includes > loop-page.php file. You can perhaps modify the database, look for the pages in wp_posts table and remove the meta infos. If you’re not familiar with wp databases, this is going to be impossible and it might break the page structure. Have you tried asking the linkedin community regarding this? I’m not sure how they fetch the url data. I’ll ask the rest of the support team to check it.
Cheers!
