    Hello,

I have a background video on my homepage. When the page loads, you can see the title of the video appearing at the top left of the screen, and the youtube logo at the bottom right. Both disappear after a few seconds, but I would like to delete them so that I no longer see them when I arrive on the site. Is it possible ?

Thank you very much in advance,

    Best regards,
    Audrey

    Hi laboiteapixels12,

Thanks for giving us access to your site.
I have checked the background video on the homepage and reload the page again (clearing browser cache so video is not fetched from cache) however I don’t see the title of the video on the top left or the youtube logo. Is this already fixed?

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Nikko,

The name and logo only appear on certain screen sizes. On the big screen there is no problem indeed. I made a video capture from a small screen to show you. I put the google drive link in private content.
    Thank you very much,

    Best regards,

    Hi laboiteapixels12,

I see, I tried to check further into this and it seems youtube does not give you the ability to remove it (so it does show briefly at the beginning).
    Here’s a link you can check: https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/10141246/i-am-unable-to-remove-the-video-title-and-play-controls-when-trying-to-embed-my-video?hl=en
Also, you can check here the available parameters for the player: https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters
I think you can try using Vimeo or even using a self-hosted video.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Nikko,

It’s really a shame that youtube won’t let their logo be removed.. I’ll try to put the video on vimeo to see if it’s the same.

Regarding the possibility of putting a self-hosted video, this will not affect the performance of the site ? as the video is heavy..

Are you still testing my site ? I see that the home page is currently modified by the account I created for you

Thank’s again and have a good day,

    Audrey

    Hi Audrey,

I forgot to close the browser window and have it minimized, I apologize for that.
As for self-hosted video it does depend on how many users are viewing the videos at the same time as well as the capacity of your server, using CDN would be the best approach for self-hosted videos.

    Hi Nikko,

I tried with a vimeo link but unfortunately it’s not better than youtube: the video does not load immediately. We see a photo for a second and then the video starts.
Wouldn’t it be possible to zoom in on the video, so that the logo and the name of the video are out of view ? As they are placed on the edges of the video, maybe there is a way to hide them?

    Thank’s in advance,
    Best regards,
    Audrey

    Hi again Nikko,

Another solution maybe… I read that it was possible to add “modestbranding=1” to the youtube url, to make the logo disappear. How can I try this please ? I am desperately looking for a solution to be able to put my video in full background…

    Thank you for your help

    Hi,
you would add tit like this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeHEM4V0M6k?modestbranding
but the channel name still shows, so this would not be much help for you.
Your best option is to self-hosted it.

    Hi Mike and Nikko,

Finally I found a solution. I put the video on vimeo, putting a black rectangle as a cover. This way when you arrive on the site, you see a black background for 1 second and then the video fades in. It’s not bad like that!

Thank you for your help, always very much appreciated.

    Have a good day,
    Audrey
