    Dear,

Since some time now visitors of my site http://www.example.com will get an error whenever visiting my website, typing in http://www.example.com, however the site works just fine if they type in http://www.example.com/

I have checked the options on my home page but the page should be visible for anyone and a login isn’t activated so there is no registration needed, (neither is that been disabled).

Could you please explain what is causing this error and how I can fix it?

    Hi Babidjan!

Your site is displaying fine for me. What kind of error are they getting? Can you take a screenshot?

    Best regards,
    Elliott

    Hi Elliott,

Here is a screenshot, with the ‘error’ I’m getting:

This only happens if you type in www.shake-on.com in your address bar. If you type in www.shake-on.com/ the home page will work just fine

    Link to the google drive pic if the image doesn’t work;

    Hey!

It’s not happening on my end. What happens when you do it in a different browser?

    Regards,
    Elliott

Using different browsers (on different OS’s) will still result in the same error.

Again, this only happens for me when I type in http://www.shake-on.com instead of http://www.shake-on.com/, .
It’s strange that it doesn’t occur for you as I have been hearing this from a lot people using different computers.

    Regards,
    Babak

    Hey!

I’ll flag this for the rest of our team to see if they can see it.

    Hey!

Both links are working fine on my end. Have you personally tried a different computer/device?

    Hi!

I checked on Mac OSX using Chrome and both links are the same for me.

    Dear All,

I just asked people around in the office and it seems that this error randomly happens for some and not the others. It isn’t related to browsers, OS’s or anything like that either.

Do you guys have any clue what might be causing this problem? Cause right it’s actually the weirdest thing that I’ve ever seen and I’ve absolutely no clue how to fix it.

    Best regards,

    Babak

    Hey!

make sure to clear browser cache and hard refresh a few times. Ask your host about this issue. Are you using any caching plugin? or is your host using any kind of caching on your server?

    Regards,
    Andy

    #507858

So I cleared both my browsers caches on chrome and safari, no problems on the chrome anymore. Also safari works now when typing in http://www.shake-on.com, however now I get the same problem in safari when typing in just shake-on.com.

As far as I know there’s no caching on my server, I have to ask them about it.

    Regards,

    Babak

    Hey!

that sounds definitely as a caching problem in general (when problem disappeared on Chrome after clearing cache). Let us know what your host is saying about it.

    Andy

    Hi guys,

Just a quick question, didn’t want to make new thread about it.

I have a problem with opening the video links on the same page. The photo’s work just fine, but some how youtube videos will always open up in a new window.

To be perfectly clear, the video won’t load on top of the shake-on page, but will go to vimeo or youtube instead.

Funny thing is that before I changed the link yesterday it would load the video on top of the shake-on page.

Is there something I can do that change that again?

    Hi,

I couldn’t see any links to videos on your front page, could you link directly to a page where we can see the problem please?

    Thanks,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

Now that I wanted to give you a link, it suddenly works (Home page). This has happened before, sometimes it does work and sometimes it doesn’t when I put in a new link and suddenly it starts working again.

Any idea how I that is possible?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I’m not sure but like Andy said earlier it very much sounds like a caching problem. You mentioned that you get the error in your office, you could try to reset all routers etc. there since the caching could be coming from a device like that.

    Thanks,
    Rikard
