    Hi guys,

    How can I reduce the number of characters of the breadcrumb to ie. 60?

    For normal pages/messages the length usually is not such a big problem, although it can become tricky when there is a indepth navigation structure. However, when you create a quote using messages, the whole quote goes into the title. Then it is far too long…

    Could you please provide a link to a page with the breadcrumb issue? We would like to check it. Are you trying to reduce the character length of a single trail or the whole breadcrumb?

    Hi Ismael,

    My question was about reducing the character length of a single trail. However, the issue seems to be somewhat more complex…

    At the VDTS website you can see a single message using the quote settings. Since the quote is quite long, the breadcrumb is as well. First you see the home page, blog & news page, category and title of the single message. I can see it is being cut (after 56 characters), but still quite long.

    When you look at a single message on the development site for Arti-Sign, you can see the same issue, but also another problem. In the breadcrumb first you see the home page, first followed by the (full) title of the message (which is the full quote) in stead of the blog page, than the category (quotes) followed again by the quote…?

    Both blog pages are made up the same way, permalinks are set the same way as well.

    Please advise.

    Hey!

    I think it would be best to use a plugin for such a function. I am pretty sure Yoast SEO plugin has such a function and other breadcrumbs plugins will have it too.

    Hey Andy,

    I gues somewhere in the theme files the length of the breadcrumb must have been set to a certain number of charachters. If so, I suppose we could change that using a code in the functions file? Or not?

    Have you looked at the 2nd problem of having the title of the message twice in the breadcumb?

    Hey!

    as I already said it would be best to search a plugin with such a function or if you want you could hire a freelance developer for this job.

    Your 2nd problem is related to custom breadcrumbs as well. Use the plugin I mentioned or search for any custom breadcrumbs plugin out there.

    For the 2nd issue, sorry, my mistake. I forgot to link the blog page in the theme settings. Stupid mistake :-P I am so sorry for bothering you…
