Hi,
We have an issue with the ‘Read More’ option within a blog post and I couldn’t find a solution in the forum: in the Article (back-end) we simply insert a ‘Read More’ tag/line with the button on the toolbar.
In the front-end however, the location of the ‘Read More’ tag is being ignored. Instead, it shows a part of the excerpt, followed by three dots (…) and then the ‘Read More’ button. We use the ‘Blog article element’, Raster layout, with ‘Title, Excerpt and Read-More link’ option.
Why does this not work? We want to set the position of the ‘excerpt break’ ourselves by inserting the ‘read more’ tag where we like it.
I hope there is a (simple, obvious) solution for this?
Best Regards,
Roger
EZ WebdesignJanuary 27, 2018 at 10:25 pm #903784Hey EZWebdesign,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,
NikkoJanuary 27, 2018 at 11:10 pm #903812I have found that the “read more” tag is not compatible with ALB but only works with the standard WordPress text editor. I’ll be curious if there’s a workaround.
January 28, 2018 at 2:25 pm #903874Hi Nikko,
Thanks for your reply.
I’ve created a user for you. I put the credential info in the Private Area.
Thanks in advance!

RogerJanuary 29, 2018 at 6:14 am #904064Hi Roger,
The blog posts element ignores that read more link and adds its own. Is the excerpt too long for you here?

VictoriaJanuary 29, 2018 at 1:16 pm #904247Hi Victoria,
It’s not only too long, we want to set the ‘break-point’ ourselves with the help of the ‘read more’-link. That’s exactly the purpose of it anyway, and it’s default WordPress behaviour, so why is it ignored? It shouldn’t be ignored!

RogerJanuary 30, 2018 at 9:50 pm #905159Hi,
That is how we have developed the element so we can keep some design consistency.
There are ways to modify it, for example you can load and modify it through shortcodes.
You can check here, how you can load something from a childtheme
Here is a sample topicThank you very much

I don’t know what you mean by ‘There are ways to modify it, for example you can load and modify it through shortcodes.’
Can you explain how I can get the default behaviour back by removing what shortcodes?

RogerFebruary 2, 2018 at 8:38 pm #907021Hi,
You need to modify the object, by modifying the template and edit it.
if you do not know how to do it, the best option is to hire someone so they cna help you with it.Best regards,
