I have several installations of Enfold and on various servers and have experienced the error message “Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in…/wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php on line 6”
After seeing quite a few others posts experiencing the same error, I have just a few questions so that I can better understand. I do understand that this is an issue with the version of PHP running on the host server.
Will this error occur with future revisions of Enfold? Would there be something within the code that would change with Enfold that would not require upgrading?
The reason I ask is that some may be in a situation where the host server does not upgrade to the required version for Enfold. Yes, I understand that another vendor should be found that is running a later version pf PHP, but that may not be possible in all cases.
Thanks for your help.
Hey lstoudenmire,
I am afraid that this is not generally just a case for Enfold, but it is for WordPress also.
At enfold, we follow what WordPress requires, so it can run properly.
So, if WordPress gets updates with new php compatibility, we go for them also our selfs.
Best regards,
Basilis
