After the chaos of yesterday where WP 4.01 caused problems with google maps and slider, I installed the new update 3.03. It solved the problem. I had to re-customize php files, etc. Took some time

This morning I see there’s a new update 3.04 and it’s recommending me to update it.

    My question is,

    1. how do I find out if I should update or not? how do I find out the features in the new update?
    2. if I do want to update, is there an easier way to update and keep all customization in php files? Right now I’m use ftp to download old php files and then reupload and overwrite after the update. But still there’re a few clicks in the enfold option I have to select.

    Hi!

3.0.4 fixes an issue with buttons caused by 3.0.3, it is highly recommended to update it, as you already have 3.0.3 you won’t note any difference apart from that.

    Cheers!

    Hey!

If you haven’t directly touched the theme files your customization won’t be affected.

theme files, you are referring to, header.php, footer.php, layout.css, etc?

yes, my web designer has modified these files.

so every time i do an update, they will be overwritten?

    Hey!

Yes, the best way to prevent this is to use a child theme, you can put those files (header.php, footer.php) in the child theme directory and use Quick CSS or style.css.

    Best regards,
    Josue
