Hey guys – this isn’t Enfold specific but it has to do with the comments on an Enfold site and I’m not sure who else to ask.

On https://www.emptywheel.net/ they have a very large comment following and nesting comments within comments within comments is really important. SOMETIMES when someone posts a nested comment it shows up at the bottom of the comments instead of nested in the right place. Any thoughts as to why that would be happening? I’m not using any special comment plugins besides https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-comment-editing/ – do you think there could be something happening when a user is commenting on a nested comment if someone else is commenting at the same time or something and it doesn’t know what to do with it?

    Hey Andrea,

    Thank you for using Enfold.

Where can we see the issue? Please provide a link to a post with deep nested comments. A screenshot will help.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

Here’s a post with comments nested quite a bit:

I can’t seem to duplicate but she gets a lot of complaints about the comments not being nested correctly and just going to the bottom.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

The responses or replies are nested correctly. I’m not really sure what’s the issue here. This is the whole markup of that single comment and its replies.

The child comments are located exactly where they’re supposed to be.

They are saying that OFTEN a nested comment goes to the bottom and that person usually ends up just deleting their comment. I don’t have an example where a nested comment does get moved though. I don’t think it’s a simple code fix – just curious if you ever have seen this happen before or if there’s anything that could cause this.

    Hi CurlyHost,

No, haven’t seen this before, would be nice if the users did not delete the comments so that we can see the issue.

    Best regards,
    Victoria
