    Hi,
I keep trying to update my website to 4.2.6 but every time I do, I end up with a white screen, and I have to revert to a back up from five days ago. Can you please advise as this is quite frustrating. Thank you!

    Hey jnightingale,

What version of PHP are you running on the site? It should be minimum 5.6, but you might want to run 7.x if that is possible.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
How would I find that out? Thank you.

    Hi,

If you have activated Enfold, you can check it in LayerSlider WP > Options > System Status > Server Settings > PHP Version. Or you can follow this post: https://www.wikihow.com/Check-PHP-Version

    Hi,
I’m running into the same problems and unfortunately I can’t change the PHP version as long as my provider doesn’t do this. So what’s a working solution for those of us that need to be running with an older php version in order to upgrade to the latest enfold versions?
The non working 4.2.6 upgrade already killed a working day for me…
    kind regards

    Hi,
The version it says the site is running is 5.6.30. Can you please tell me how to solve this because at this point, I am too nervous to try and update Enfold again. Perhaps you can use my private info to go in and take a look at why when I update it, the site turns to a white screen. It seems like others in the forums are having this trouble with the latest update, too. Thanks so much!

    Hi Justine,

I’m not sure what the exact problem is on your site, but maybe it would be a good idea if you copied your site to a staging site and run all updates there first? That way you don’t need to risk your production server. It also means that we could look at the actual problem without your site being down.

I can log in to your site just fine, but the user needs to be upgraded to admin rights. Please upgrade the account so that we can see the whole installation.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
You have admin rights now. Thanks!

    Hi jnightingale,

Can you also give us ftp access? so we can try to debug.

    Hi,

I have tried to update your site to 4.2.6 and it does mess up though I don’t get a blank screen, I have used 4.2.5 and it does work well. Will check on this again.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

Hi Nikko, or anyone else out there… Have you been able to check on my issue again? I’d really like to get this fixed!
    Thanks so much,

I think I’ve had the same problem you have Justine. Mine was fixed by removing the unfold folder from my themes map and extracting the new one. I guess there were some old files that shouldn’t be there, left over when just copying the new version and replace existing files…

I hope this helps for you too.

My PHP version was 5.6.33 already…

I resolved this issues by doing the following
    1. Got my hosting co (godaddy) to change the theme. This gave me access to the WP admin
    2. In cPannel I renamed the Enfold folder
    3. I then expanded a ZIP folder with an older version of the Enfold theme to replace the folder I’d just renamed.
    4. Activated the new old theme in WP admin. it worked.

What’s interesting is the old Enfold theme is version 4.0.2 and when I check for updates it say there are none and it’s up to date.
the version that crashed the site is version 4.2.6
I was running php 7.1, but changed it to php 7 as per instructions here to fix this issue (they didn’t work for me, but I haven’t changed it back).

    Hi jnightingale,

Sorry for the late response, I have checked your ftp again and your Enfold theme is now updated (version 4.2.6). Let us know if you need further assistance :)

    Hi Nikko
Has the issue that cause the problem been fixed?
There’s no point in updating if it’s got the same problem.

    #937920

    Hi Nikko,
Thank you for the fix! Now, though, my Ninja forms have disappeared. When I try to install it fresh, it says it fails, but it isn’t listed in plugins anymore after the update, and the forms aren’t working. Please advise?
    Thanks,
    Justine

    #938143

    Hi,

I have checked ninja forms in the plugins folder and there are no files in it except folders, can you try to install it manually? also for the updating issue you mentioned, the issue I noticed when upgrading to 4.2.6 was the slider was enlarged for about 3 scrolls, which is fixed and didn’t have any issues, but since you have issue on ninja forms, we’ll help you fix it.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    #938393

    Hi Nikko,
So are you going to try and install ninja forms for me manually with the ftp information I gave you? Thank you!
    Justine

    #938402

So I see I am NOT the only one with the same problem.

    #939643

    Hi jnightingale,

Sorry for the late response, I haven’t bought the ninja forms plugin and don’t have the files to upload, can you try to do upload it instead? just upload it in the plugins folder.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Nikko,
I am back again with a similar problem when trying to do this latest update, 4.3.1. When I update Enfold, it disappears from the WordPress backend, and the website doesn’t show up. It says stylesheet missing. Any reason why updating Enfold isn’t working for me twice now? Any help you can provide this time around would be much appreciated. Thank you – private info included.

    Hi jnightingale,

How did you update Enfold? is it via ftp?
Can you try to extract the zip file first then go to the extracted folder and find enfold.zip file and use it to upload.
    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Nikko
