Since you’re using WPML, you have to do this: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-export-and-import/

Yes, it might be the problem because it works fine on our installation. Also, the fact that you’re using a different theme in the old site can also be an issue. We can never be sure because we’re not familiar with the theme. The worst case scenario here is that you have to add the featured image manually for every post in the new site.
Update both installations’ WP version to the latest then try to export/import the posts again. You have to remove the posts on the new site first before doing so.
