Dear folks at Kriesi,
while searching for a more contemporary webhoster for my needs than Domainfactory is I tried out Manitu Webhosting. That worked out with… let’s say medium success. For instance their rights management diffenentiates between rights for scripts and rights for the FTP user. Forget grown up WordPress Webhosting then, I know :D
Problem: Since you need to install Enfold via ftp the first time you can never update it via Wordspress backend when using Manitu because wordpress lacks the rights to edit or delete the files of this “other user”, which is also you. As a workaround I copy one of my other Enfold installs alternatively to go to envato, which is a even more annoying process for every update. Nevertheless the constant copying and uploading simply is a pain I never had to find a workaround for somewhere else.So how would it be possible to e.g. upload Enfold in the respective latest version via zip in the WordPress theme installer? The Manitu-mode, so to say :D
Any help or other/BETTER! ideas would be much appreciated.
Best regards

So here’s my solution fot the user rights crap at Manitu, just in case you installed it via FTP the first time:You have to use FTP just once more.
Get the latest Version of Enfold – just the installable files – from Themeforest. The solution is for a setup like mine, your mileage may vary. It assumes you use a child theme, anyway.
1. When Enfold notifies you about an update log into your webspace via FTP.
2. Rename the Enfold folder in /wp-content/themes/ to something else.
3. Go to themes in wordpress’ backend (Design -> Themes)
4. Click add theme, then upload the zip file from themeforest. Since you use a child theme and that refers to the folder “enfold” all should be fine. Without renaming the folder there would be a rights collision again.
5. Back in your FTP client delete the renamed Enfold folder. From then on all should be good and as you know it.
