    We use magazines to show entries of a specific category.
    The website is multi lingual.
    So, for example we have a category “Fasnacht” in german which is named “Carnaval” in french.
    Sometimes we also do not translate the categories.
    Anyway. Now, when we edit a german page which uses a magazine to show entries of a specific category, the setting is lost in the translated french page. So we have to edit this page and reset the category in the magazine.
    I think, this is a very bad bug because so after every text change and translation we have to reset the category in the magazine.

    I made a video where you can see the steps, see private content section:

    • open the portfolio entry in german (base language), the magazine is ok
    • open the portfolio entry in french (translated language), the magazine is ok
    • edit the german entry
    • translate the french entry
    • go to the german entry, the magazine is ok
    • go to the french entry, the magazine is not ok.

    Then I have to edit also the french entry and reset the magazine assignment for that it works again.

    Another problem that we have with translations. When we use a picture in the german language with the lightbox, then in the french version the link does not work anymore, it shows to a linke like URL/lightbox. I think, this is also a compatibilty problem between Enfold and WPML?

    Hi Mike,

    I’m very sorry for the late reply. I’ve tried setting up a test environment, so that I can try to reproduce the problem on your site. I’m no WPML expert unfortunately, and I think I’m missing something in the settings. When I edit something in language 1, and I click the update icon for language 2, it takes me directly to the portfolio item edit screen, instead of the side by side editing screen like in your video. Would you be able to check the installation in private, to see which setting I’ve missed? If we can reproduce it on the test installation, then we can assume that this is bug. If we can’t, then the problem might be a local one on your site.

    Edit; English is the main language on the site, and Swedish is the second language.

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for that. I was able to reproduce the problem on the test site, and I’ve reported the problem to our developers. I don’t have a solution for you at the moment, but I’ll update this thread if we should find anything that will solve this problem.

    Hi,

    I tried to reproduce the problem on my dev server. Using WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor I’m not able to reproduce the problem.

    In my opinion it is a problem with the classic translation editor (which as far as I heard will be deprecated in future) and switching around with the editors in the different languages.

    I would suggest that you try the Advanced Translation Editor, only edit the german language and translate only in the provided popup fields and do not open the translated post in an editor.
    WPML provides good support also for Enfold and if you have problems/questions in using WPML.

    As a first step I would suggest that you open a ticket at WPML – and describe the problem and provide your video.

    In case you do not find a solution to your problem with the regular support staff please come back with the link to your support thread there and we will contact the compatibility team directly to find a solution for your problem.

    The support of WPML added the following code to WPML – Settings – Custom XML configuration:

    <wpml-config>
    <shortcodes>
        <shortcode>
            <tag>av_magazine</tag>
            <attributes>
                <attribute>heading</attribute>
            </attributes>
        </shortcode>
    </shortcodes>
</wpml-config>

    Now it seems to work.
    But I think, this should be fixed by Enfold in a next release for that this configuration is not needed.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your feedback and glad it is working now.

    The xml file is hosted by WPML on github and WPML always connects to this file. The version in theme folder is only left for backwards comp. with old WPML versions.

    So there is nothing to do from our side.
