I have created a Fullwidth Masonry Gallery for one of my clients. You can see it at:

    http://www.yourmarriagecelebrant.com.au/wp/photo-gallery/

The theme has been upgraded to v2.7.

However, when the client views the gallery in both Internet Explorer and Chrome (she has upgraded to the latest version of each browser) some of the images are sitting on top of each other.

You can see print screens of both browsers on this page

I have deactivated overlay, but the problem still exists.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Ivana!

Thank you for using the theme.

Looks like it is happening randomly. I tested it on Chrome, load the website and 1 out 5 refresh the issue appear. Please try to optimize the website, see if it helps. Usually minimizing the image sizes and number of plugins that you install will greatly improve the performance. These are the things that you can do to optimize the website speed and page load courtesy of the wordpress community:

    1. Optimize all images with AI/Photoshop before uploading to server ‘save as web safe’ jpg
    2. Once all images are on the website optimize with ewww optimizer plugin twice 1hr 10mins apart.
    3. Install wp-smushit run once to remove jpeg extra data, then uninstall.
    4. Use BWP minify plugin to minify scripts and stylesheets.
    5. Install WP-Super cache, select all recommended settings.
    6. Logout your website, visit every page at least once to create super cache files.
    7. Join Cloudflare setup your website on their CDN, Choose options: Full CDN Optimisation save then activate purge files. once done log out.
    8. Have a cup of coffee.
    9. Visit your site after 20 minutes or so.
    10. Don’t forget to smile.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

Thanks for your suggestions Ismael … of the points above I think I can manage No 8, 9 and 10 :). The others are all a little beyond my technical knowledge.

All the images that were uploaded were jpgs, no larger than 800 pixels and they show fine on my computer, but for some reason when they are displayed as “Flexible Masonry” layout they do not show up properly on my client’s laptop, although when I change the setting to “Perfect Grid”, they display ok for her.

    Hi!

While the images individually aren’t very large, the server just isn’t able to handle them all loading in at once quick enough for the masonry script to respond.

So once they have been loaded any browser resize event will recalculate the position of all the elements correctly but otherwise some get the errors you see.

You have really only a few options: move servers to one with a faster load time or decrease the number of images loaded before you need to click load more.

    Regards,
    Devin

Thank you for the explanation Devin. That makes sense.

I will break up the photo gallery into several pages or perhaps create several galleries and hopefully that will help to resolve the issue for this client. I have no problems viewing them correctly, so I’m thinking the problem is mainly linked to her computer / internet connection.

    I appreciate your help.

    Cheers
    Ivana
